NFL Week 8 Recap

The Chiefs improve to 8-0, the Cowboys give up 329 receiving yards to Calvin Johnson in a loss, and the Broncos score 38 unanswered in a rout against the Redskins. Let's recap Week 8!

Carolina Panthers 31 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 13

As silly as it may sound, Mike Glennon didn't look bad in this game. His accuracy needs to improve, but he was making sound decisions and throwing it to open wide receivers. The Buccaneers do not quite know yet if he is the future, but I think the potential is there. Greg Schiano just won't be around to see it develop in future seasons.

Lions' WR Calvin Johnson racked up 329 receiving yards in the win.
Dallas Cowboys 30 Detroit Lions 31

Leave it up to the Cowboys to get a holding penalty that stops the clock. Then leave it to the Cowboys to give up a game-winning score to a team that needed a touchdown with no timeouts left. It is completely inexcusable, and with the Eagles and Redskins losing, the Cowboys had a chance to distance themselves. Now, they're just two ahead of the last place Giants.

San Francisco 49ers 42 Jacksonville Jaguars 10

The Jaguars must feel some kind of way having to fly out to London just to get embarrassed. They will be playing in London in the next couple of seasons as well, so they better worry about fielding a more competitive team for their future London trips.

Browns' QB Jason Campbell played well replacing
Brandon Weeden.
Cleveland Browns 17 Kansas City Chiefs 23

Jason Campbell was shafted by the Raiders when he broke his collarbone in the 2011 season. At 4-2, the Raiders were playing well when he went down with the injury. The Raiders made a dumb trade to acquire Carson Palmer, and Campbell was shown the door. He's a guy, much like Alex Smith, who doesn't make mistakes. He should be handed the keys for the rest of the season. He gives the Browns a much better chance to win than Brandon Weeden.

Miami Dolphins 17 New England Patriots 27

Mike Pouncey definitely isn't feeling good after this one. The Dolphins had an early commanding lead, only to forget how to score and give up the lead and the game. Then, Pouncey was apparently approached by Massachussets State Police and was given a grand jury subpoena for the Aaron Hernandez case. Pouncey's twin visits Foxboro next week. He could avoid that trip because he's out for the season.

Buffalo Bills 17 New Orleans Saints 35

The Saints keep on winning, and that shouldn't have been a surprise entering the season. The Saints are a very good football team when Sean Payton and Drew Brees are clicking. They'll win this division easily, despite only being two games ahead of the Panthers currently.

New York Giants 15 Philadelphia Eagles 7

The Giants must be encouraged by getting two consecutive victories. However, their offense failed to score a touchdown, despite moving the ball with ease throughout the game. The Giants' next three games are at home. They won't be easy games, but if they win all three, all of a sudden they're 5-6 and in the heat of the race.

New York Jets 9 Cincinnati Bengals 49

The Jets just can't figure out a way to play well in consecutive games. A week after beating the rival Patriots at home, they get embarrassed in Cincinnati. Granted, Cincinnati is a good football team, but not that good. The Jets have another big home game against the Saints next week. That'll be very interesting.

Raiders' QB Terrelle Pryor runs wild against the Steelers.
Pittsburgh Steelers 18 Oakland Raiders 21

Even though Terrelle Pryor didn't have a good passing game, he gives the Raiders a chance to win every week with his ability to run. Pryor did say the Raiders will make the playoffs. They're in a very tough division with the Chiefs and Broncos killing the competition. Also, the Chargers have played decent and are winning. Pryor might have to hold his guarantee until next year.

Atlanta Falcons 13 Arizona Cardinals 27

You have to feel awful for Tony Gonzalez. He came back for one more season for this. Nothing is going right for the Falcons. Gonzalez will walk away without a ring.

Broncos' QB Peyton Manning goes wild against the Redskins defense
in the second half.
Washington Redskins 21 Denver Broncos 45

When DeAngelo Hall returned that interception for a touchdown, it appeared it struck a nerve with the Broncos. They were so angry, they went for it on fourth down a couple of times, converting on their attempts and running away with the football game. They scored 31 points in the fourth quarter and the final 38 points. The Giants and Eagles can relate to the Redskins.

Green Bay Packers 44 Minnesota Vikings 31

The Vikings scored 31 points, so that is much better than the seven they scored against the Giants last week. The fans were booing Christian Ponder, but its apparent that he is much better than Josh Freeman. Either way, the Packers are just better than the Vikings.

Rams' QB Kellen Clemens couldn't get the Rams into the end zone
in the final seconds.
Seattle Seahawks 14 St. Louis Rams 9

The Rams played their hearts out in this game, and if they had Sam Bradford, they would've won. It's unfortunate but the Seahawks don't look very good offensively with injuries to their offensive line. They better straighten it out or they'll lose home field advantage, which I believe they need.
