NFL Week 6 Preview

Week 6 features the defending champions against a potential Super Bowl contender, and the Chargers try to cure their recent Monday Night Football woes at home. Let's preview Week 6!

New York Giants vs. Chicago Bears
Thursday October 10, 2013 8:25pm
NFL Network -- Brad Nessler, Mike Mayock

This may sound crazy but this is a good game for the Giants to get their first win of the season. They'll have to watch out for turnovers, however. The Bears' defense loves to create turnovers. On the flipside, the Bears have to straighten themselves out after two consecutive losses, but this is a game they should win as well. I believe this is the first game the Giants give up under 31 points.

Green Bay Packers vs. Baltimore Ravens
Sunday October 13, 2013 1pm
FOX -- Kenny Albert, Daryl Johnston, Tony Siragusa

The Ravens are coming off of an impressive road victory in Miami, but they find themselves as the underdog at home. It won't be difficult for Joe Flacco to try and comb through the Packers' defense. It also won't be difficult for Aaron Rodgers. I'll give the edge to the better quarterback.

Cincinnati Bengals vs. Buffalo Bills
Sunday October 13, 2013 1pm
CBS -- Kevin Harlan, Solomon Wilcots, Boomer Esiason

Just for the simple fact that the Bengals haven't won on the road yet and have not demonstrated they can, I'll go with the Bills. But wait? E.J. Manuel isn't playing. That's enough for me to swing it right back to the Bengals.

Detroit Lions vs. Cleveland Browns
Sunday October 13, 2013 1pm
FOX -- Tom McCarthy, Heath Evans

It's unclear whether Calvin Johnson will suit up for this one. He has missed practice all week, so he's probably doubtful. However, the Browns had something going with Brian Hoyer before he wrecked his knee. Now they're back to Brandon Weeden. The Lions' defense shouldn't have any problems defending.

St. Louis Rams vs. Houston Texans
Sunday October 13, 2013 1pm
FOX -- Chris Myers, Tim Ryan

This is the perfect game for Matt Schaub, outside of the fact that he's playing at home. Houston fans have not taken kindly to Schaub this week after his performance this season. Apparently, some even showed up at his door. The Rams have not played well at all defensively, and Cortland Finnegan in particular has been getting burned all season. Perfect game for Schaub to avoid interceptions.

Oakland Raiders vs. Kansas City Chiefs
Sunday October 13, 2013 1pm
CBS -- Marv Albert, Rich Gannon

With Terrelle Pryor back, this will be a good one. I still believe the Chiefs' defense will get them the win, but Pryor is improving every game. By next year, he could have the Raiders contending for a playoff spot.

Carolina Panthers vs. Minnesota Vikings
Sunday October 13, 2013 1pm
FOX -- Sam Rosen, Brian Billick

The Panthers continue to struggle offensively, but the Vikings hasn't played well defensively at all. This could be a solid road win for the Panthers, but only if Cam Newton has his act right. He's been given way too much slack for being a top talent in this league, yet has played like a bottom 10 quarterback so far in his career.

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. New York Jets
Sunday October 13, 2013 1pm
CBS -- Jim Nantz, Phil Simms, Bill Cowher

When this season started and we looked ahead to this game, we thought for sure the Jets would be struggling and the Steelers would be somewhere around .500 if not better. However, the Steelers have yet to get a win, while Geno Smith is at home with a chance to get the Jets to 4-2. It's all in the Jets' favor.

Philadelphia Eagles vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Sunday October 13, 2013 1pm
FOX -- Dick Stockton, Ronde Barber

DeSean Jackson told reporters Darrelle Revis won't be able to keep up with his speed. I'm not sure if Jackson is trying to provide bulletin board material, but he said what he said. At least he wasn't as harsh as LeSean McCoy was to Knowshon Moreno.

Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Denver Broncos
Sunday October 13, 2013 4:05pm
CBS -- Ian Eagle, Dan Fouts, Shannon Sharpe

I feel a little bad I have to predict the final score to this game. I've seen some blowouts in my day, but I'm just not sure how bad of a loss this will be for the Jaguars. Peyton Manning had nothing but praise for the Jaguars. He talked about how they were a good red zone defense. That's just Manning playing it coy. This will get ugly.

Jacksonville Jaguars 3 Denver Broncos 52

Tennessee Titans vs. Seattle Seahawks
Sunday October 13, 2013 4:05pm
CBS -- Greg Gumbel, Dan Dierdorf

If Jake Locker were playing, this would've been a good game. Locker is a graduate of the University of Washington, close to Seattle. This would've been a homecoming game for him, but it isn't anymore. In is Ryan Fitzpatrick, and asking him to perform well against the Seahawks' defense with the noise in CenturyLink Field, is simply asking a lot.

Arizona Cardinals vs. San Francisco 49ers
Sunday October 13, 2013 4:25pm
FOX -- Kevin Burkhardt, John Lynch

The Cardinals are actually sitting at 3-2, so it's been decent for them so far. They could've been 4-1 if they didn't blow a double-digit lead to the Rams in Week 1. Going up against the 49ers, however, is bigger than what the Cardinals have faced so far this year. The edge goes to the 49ers.

Saints' Drew Brees
New Orleans Saints vs. New England Patriots
Sunday October 13, 2013 4:25pm
FOX -- Thom Brennaman, Troy Aikman

This is a very good game that can go either way. The Patriots' offense isn't as potent as it once was, and that's because of the young wide receivers Tom Brady is dealing with. The Saints' offense is good, but they're not a juggernaut. They only scored 16 points against a good Buccaneers' defense, so with the right defensive gameplan, they can be slowed down. The key is slowing down Jimmy Graham and Darren Sproles. If the Patriots can do that, they'll come out of there with a win.

Washington Redskins vs. Dallas Cowboys
Sunday October 13, 2013 8:30pm
NBC -- Al Michaels, Cris Collinsworth

Last year on Thanksgiving Day, the Redskins surprised many people by their onslaught of the Cowboys in Cowboys Stadium. The Redskins are coming off a bye, and they're still relatively unknown. They won against the Raiders before the bye week, but that was only because Matt Flynn started. They could be winless at this point if Terrelle Pryor played that game. However, we see Robert Griffin III isn't running like he was last year, so this bye week probably helps. If he can get back to running, the Redskins can start winning games. I just don't believe it'll be this Sunday.

Colts' Andrew Luck and Reggie Wayne.
Indianapolis Colts vs. San Diego Chargers
Monday October 14, 2013 8:40pm
ESPN -- Mike Tirico, Jon Gruden

The last two times the Chargers were at home on Monday Night Football, they had a 24-0 lead against the Broncos, and a 28-7 lead against the Texans. The Chargers would go on to lose both games, so they probably would like to avoid grabbing a big lead in this one. The Chargers, at 2-3, are very capable of winning this game. However, I'm not sure their defense will hold up.
