NFL Week 6 Recap

The Patriots get a dramatic win in the last seconds and hand the Saints their first loss, while the Rams keep the Texans in misery with a surprise blowout win. Let's recap Week 6!

Giants' TE Brandon Myers can't bring in the high pass, which is
intercepted by Bears' CB Tim Jennings.
New York Giants 21 Chicago Bears 27

When you're 0-6, the only thing you can look at are the encouraging things and build off of that. Sure, Eli Manning threw two early interceptions, but he was efficient after and Brandon Jacobs came in to start and gained over 100 yards. At this point, the Giants must continue to take it one game at a time. However, even they know this is a lost season.

Packers' WR Randall Cobb lay in pain after a hard hit to the knee
from Ravens' S Matt Elam.
Green Bay Packers 19 Baltimore Ravens 17

Aaron Rodgers knew right away that Matt Elam's hit on Randall Cobb was dirty. Everyone who was watching the game knew it was dirty. The excuse of defenders being unable to hit up high is old and tired. As Rodgers stated after the game, Elam had plenty of time to make a sound tackle on Cobb by hitting him in the ribs area. Now Cobb has a fractured fibula. This has nothing to do with Roger Goodell's mandate that players don't target the head area.

Bengals' K Mike Nugent celebrates with teammates after
kicking game-winning field goal in overtime.
Cincinnati Bengals 27 Buffalo Bills 24 OT

Thad Lewis had a solid performance considering it was just his second career start. Andy Dalton, however, was solid offensively and showed the country that when their offense is operating well, this is what it looks like. The only issue for Dalton is consistently doing so. The Bengals are in Detroit next week, so if both offenses are clicking in that one, it could be a shootout.

Detroit Lions 31 Cleveland Browns 17

The Lions were down 17-7 at the half, so it was an embarrassing performance for the Browns to be outscored 24-0 in the second half at home. Brandon Weeden's interception on a long, ill-advised shovel pass in the fourth quarter probably sums up Weeden at this point in his career. He's most likely not the answer for the Browns in future seasons.

St. Louis Rams 38 Houston Texans 13

Easily the shocker of the day. The Rams did whatever they wanted, whenever they wanted against the Texans in their building. Sure, the Texans haven't looked like the Super Bowl contending team many people expected. However, after this game, it gives me reason to believe the Texans certainly will not make the playoffs. The Rams are now 3-3, so that's good for them.

Oakland Raiders 7 Kansas City Chiefs 24

Terrelle Pryor said after the game that the Raiders would make the playoffs. Even though they won't, Raiders' fans have to be thrilled with having a quarterback who possesses this kind of enthusiasm and confidence. The Chiefs, now at 6-0, continue to keep pace with the Broncos atop the AFC West. I cannot wait for them to play each other.

Carolina Panthers 35 Minnesota Vikings 10

It was revealed Adrian Peterson didn't have much of a relationship with his 2-year old son who was killed after suffering from physical abuse at the hands of the mother's boyfriend. This is probably why he decided to play, but I won't speculate further. The Panthers did whatever they wanted to do in this game, and all of a sudden, after sneaking into the playoffs last year, the Vikings are horrible this year.

Pittsburgh Steelers 19 New York Jets 6

The Jets had a chance to improve to 4-2, and make next week's home game against the Patriots a battle for first place in the AFC East. However, the Jets came out with a dud, and the Steelers got back on track and finally won their first game of the season. The Steelers have the Ravens at home next week. Even though the Steelers have struggled, they are always angry playing the Ravens.

Philadelphia Eagles 31 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 20

Nick Foles continues to impress, and he is disputing the notion that Chip Kelly needs a running quarterback to run his system. His system is fast-paced and uptempo. However, a pocket passer is a good thing, mainly because he isn't tired to run plays at a quick pace. There were times when Michael Vick seemed completely out of gas after a run, and he's looking to the sideline hoping the playcall coming in will take a little while. Let's see what Kelly does moving forward.

Jacksonville Jaguars 19 Denver Broncos 35

I predicted a 52-3 score, but we must all remember that the Jaguars are an NFL team with pride. They heard all of the jokes about the Vegas spread and how the Broncos would completely destroy them. As grown men, they came out with the intentions of winning that football game, and even if they didn't, they certainly kept things close and interesting for the Broncos.

Tennessee Titans 13 Seattle Seahawks 20

Ryan Fitzpatrick threw two interceptions, but that isn't a surprise. The Seahawks were surprisingly sloppy in this one, and had Jake Locker been playing, the outcome probably could've been different. The only touchdown for the Titans came on a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown after the Seahawks botched a field goal attempt. The Titans sure miss Locker now.

Arizona Cardinals 20 San Francisco 49ers 32

Bruce Arians wasn't interested in just hanging with the 49ers in Candlestick Park. However, sometimes you just have to recognize your team for what they are, and there probably was very little chance the Cardinals would've won this game even at their best. Arians must build on this performance and take away the positives.

Patriots' WR Kenbrell Thompkins goes up over Saints' CB
Jabari Greer for the game-winning touchdown.
New Orleans Saints 27 New England Patriots 30

I've seen and heard criticism against Rob Ryan for his defensive scheme and the game-winning pass from Tom Brady to Kenbrell Thompkins. However, I didn't see any flaws in the call, and Thompkins simply out-jumped Jabari Greer to get the ball. It never seemed as if Greer put himself in good position to make a play anyway, so all of the blame should go on him. However, if you looked at all of the other receiving options, they were well covered up.

Washington Redskins 16 Dallas Cowboys 31

Robert Griffin III showed some of the explosive ability that has been non-existent before their bye week last week. However, he still hasn't done much to improve the offense, and with the defense struggling so far this season, Griffin III is going to need to play lights out if the Redskins are to salvage this season.

Indianapolis Colts 9 San Diego Chargers 19

The Chargers didn't blow a lead this time, so that's a great thing. Holding the Colts without a touchdown is very impressive as well. For the Colts, this is a game they could've won and taken a commanding lead in the AFC South. Furthermore, they could've shown the country they're able to go anywhere and get wins they're supposed to get. Two losses to the Dolphins and the Chargers should have them wanting more from themselves.
