NFL Week 8 Recap

The Chiefs improve to 8-0, the Cowboys give up 329 receiving yards to Calvin Johnson in a loss, and the Broncos score 38 unanswered in a rout against the Redskins. Let's recap Week 8!

Carolina Panthers 31 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 13

As silly as it may sound, Mike Glennon didn't look bad in this game. His accuracy needs to improve, but he was making sound decisions and throwing it to open wide receivers. The Buccaneers do not quite know yet if he is the future, but I think the potential is there. Greg Schiano just won't be around to see it develop in future seasons.

Lions' WR Calvin Johnson racked up 329 receiving yards in the win.
Dallas Cowboys 30 Detroit Lions 31

Leave it up to the Cowboys to get a holding penalty that stops the clock. Then leave it to the Cowboys to give up a game-winning score to a team that needed a touchdown with no timeouts left. It is completely inexcusable, and with the Eagles and Redskins losing, the Cowboys had a chance to distance themselves. Now, they're just two ahead of the last place Giants.

San Francisco 49ers 42 Jacksonville Jaguars 10

The Jaguars must feel some kind of way having to fly out to London just to get embarrassed. They will be playing in London in the next couple of seasons as well, so they better worry about fielding a more competitive team for their future London trips.

Browns' QB Jason Campbell played well replacing
Brandon Weeden.
Cleveland Browns 17 Kansas City Chiefs 23

Jason Campbell was shafted by the Raiders when he broke his collarbone in the 2011 season. At 4-2, the Raiders were playing well when he went down with the injury. The Raiders made a dumb trade to acquire Carson Palmer, and Campbell was shown the door. He's a guy, much like Alex Smith, who doesn't make mistakes. He should be handed the keys for the rest of the season. He gives the Browns a much better chance to win than Brandon Weeden.

Miami Dolphins 17 New England Patriots 27

Mike Pouncey definitely isn't feeling good after this one. The Dolphins had an early commanding lead, only to forget how to score and give up the lead and the game. Then, Pouncey was apparently approached by Massachussets State Police and was given a grand jury subpoena for the Aaron Hernandez case. Pouncey's twin visits Foxboro next week. He could avoid that trip because he's out for the season.

Buffalo Bills 17 New Orleans Saints 35

The Saints keep on winning, and that shouldn't have been a surprise entering the season. The Saints are a very good football team when Sean Payton and Drew Brees are clicking. They'll win this division easily, despite only being two games ahead of the Panthers currently.

New York Giants 15 Philadelphia Eagles 7

The Giants must be encouraged by getting two consecutive victories. However, their offense failed to score a touchdown, despite moving the ball with ease throughout the game. The Giants' next three games are at home. They won't be easy games, but if they win all three, all of a sudden they're 5-6 and in the heat of the race.

New York Jets 9 Cincinnati Bengals 49

The Jets just can't figure out a way to play well in consecutive games. A week after beating the rival Patriots at home, they get embarrassed in Cincinnati. Granted, Cincinnati is a good football team, but not that good. The Jets have another big home game against the Saints next week. That'll be very interesting.

Raiders' QB Terrelle Pryor runs wild against the Steelers.
Pittsburgh Steelers 18 Oakland Raiders 21

Even though Terrelle Pryor didn't have a good passing game, he gives the Raiders a chance to win every week with his ability to run. Pryor did say the Raiders will make the playoffs. They're in a very tough division with the Chiefs and Broncos killing the competition. Also, the Chargers have played decent and are winning. Pryor might have to hold his guarantee until next year.

Atlanta Falcons 13 Arizona Cardinals 27

You have to feel awful for Tony Gonzalez. He came back for one more season for this. Nothing is going right for the Falcons. Gonzalez will walk away without a ring.

Broncos' QB Peyton Manning goes wild against the Redskins defense
in the second half.
Washington Redskins 21 Denver Broncos 45

When DeAngelo Hall returned that interception for a touchdown, it appeared it struck a nerve with the Broncos. They were so angry, they went for it on fourth down a couple of times, converting on their attempts and running away with the football game. They scored 31 points in the fourth quarter and the final 38 points. The Giants and Eagles can relate to the Redskins.

Green Bay Packers 44 Minnesota Vikings 31

The Vikings scored 31 points, so that is much better than the seven they scored against the Giants last week. The fans were booing Christian Ponder, but its apparent that he is much better than Josh Freeman. Either way, the Packers are just better than the Vikings.

Rams' QB Kellen Clemens couldn't get the Rams into the end zone
in the final seconds.
Seattle Seahawks 14 St. Louis Rams 9

The Rams played their hearts out in this game, and if they had Sam Bradford, they would've won. It's unfortunate but the Seahawks don't look very good offensively with injuries to their offensive line. They better straighten it out or they'll lose home field advantage, which I believe they need.

NFL Week 8 Preview

Week 8 may lack the great game people want to see, but there's still some good ones. Let's preview Week 8!

Carolina Panthers vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Thursday October 24, 2013 8:25pm
NFL Network -- Brad Nessler, Mike Mayock

This is a very hard game to predict. The Panthers' defense has played better this year than in years' past. The offense is also starting to play better, as Cam Newton struggled early on. However, the Buccaneers are at home and Mike Glennon really hasn't played awful. The Buccaneers' defense is decent as well, boasting a solid secondary. Even though the Buccaneers are winless, this game looks evenly matched. I'll usually go with the home team, but I'll go with the quarterback playing better right now.

Carolina Panthers 20 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 17

San Francisco 49ers vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
Sunday October 27, 2013 1pm
FOX -- Chris Myers, Tim Ryan

It's unfortunate the 49ers have to fly all the way to London to play the lowly Jaguars. It's unfortunate the Jaguars have to fly all the way to London to suffer a bad defeat. The field conditions could help make this close, as Wembley Stadium is a soccer stadium and not meant for football players. Nonetheless, the 49ers should easily handle the Jaguars.

San Francisco 49ers 31 Jacksonville Jaguars 7

Cleveland Browns vs. Kansas City Chiefs
Sunday October 27, 2013 1pm
CBS -- Ian Eagle, Dan Fouts

If Brandon Weeden was the starter for this one, the Browns would've been in some serious trouble. It was a little baffling earlier when Rob Chudzinski decided to go with Brian Hoyer over Jason Campbell when Weeden was hurt and unable to go. Chudzinski has no other choice because Hoyer is out for the season. Campbell probably will do better than Weeden. However, it won't be anywhere close to helping them get a win.

Cleveland Browns 10 Kansas City Chiefs 21

Miami Dolphins vs. New England Patriots
Sunday October 27, 2013 1pm
CBS -- Jim Nantz, Phil Simms

The Dolphins can expect their freefall to continue, as the Patriots come in angry after losing to the Jets last weekend. When the Dolphins went 3-0, we thought they were for real. I guess not.

Miami Dolphins 20 New England Patriots 27

Buffalo Bills vs. New Orleans Saints
Sunday October 27, 2013 1pm
CBS -- Greg Gumbel, Dan Dierdorf

Thad Lewis was decent against the Dolphins last week. He could play a great game, and they would still lose. Playing in the Superdome is very hard. The Saints have had time to get over their loss to the Patriots after having a bye last weekend. The Saints will come back sharp.

Buffalo Bills 21 New Orleans Saints 34

Who will have the better game? Dez Bryant (left) or Calvin
Johnson (right)?
Dallas Cowboys vs. Detroit Lions
Sunday October 27, 2013 1pm
FOX -- Dick Stockton, Brian Billick

It's been Calvin Johnson vs. Dez Bryant all week, but this game will not completely come down to both of those players. Johnson will have a good game, as he always seems to have, but after losing to the Bengals last week, the Lions need to play better defense. Keeping up with Bryant and rookie Terrance Williams will not be easy. These teams seem evenly matched as well, so I'll give the nod to the home team.

Dallas Cowboys 23 Detroit Lions 27

New York Giants vs. Philadelphia Eagles
Sunday October 27, 2013 1pm
FOX -- Kenny Albert, Daryl Johnston, Tony Siragusa

The Giants were in line for another huge break if Michael Vick had to sit out another week. However, VIck is in line to play this Sunday, which means I'll give the nod to the Eagles.

New York Giants 20 Philadelphia Eagles 30

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Oakland Raiders
Sunday October 27, 2013 4:05pm
CBS -- Spero Dedes, Rich Gannon

With Terrelle Pryor playing, I'd be inclined to give the nod to the Raiders. The Steelers have won two straight after starting out 0-4. The Steelers did make Geno Smith play like a rookie. Even though Pryor isn't a rookie, this is his first season as the starter. The Steelers might rattle him too. Still, that defense isn't what it used to be, so I'll stick with the home team.

Pittsburgh Steelers 17 Oakland Raiders 23

Jets' QB Geno Smith will look to get another impressive
win against the Bengals.
New York Jets vs. Cincinnati Bengals
Sunday October 27, 2013 4:05pm
CBS -- Kevin Harlan, Solomon Wilcots

Many people may not think it's possible, but the Jets can go into Cincinnati and win this game. The Jets' defense is certainly good enough to keep the Bengals' offense in check. However, will Geno Smith be able to perform well against a good Bengals' defense? He's still learning, so I'll give the nod to the more experienced quarterback.

New York Jets 14 Cincinnati Bengals 24

Atlanta Falcons vs. Arizona Cardinals
Sunday October 27, 2013 4:25pm
FOX -- Kevin Burkhardt, John Lynch

This is a tricky one. The Falcons should be better than the Cardinals, but the Cardinals haven't played all that bad so far. Also, the Falcons are missing valuable threats on offense, but it has been reported that Steven Jackson may be able to play in this game. We should keep our eye on that. For now, however, I'll give the nod to the home team here also.

Atlanta Falcons 27 Arizona Cardinals 30

Broncos' QB Peyton Manning (left) and Redskins' QB Robert Griffin
III (right) face off for the first time.
Washington Redskins vs. Denver Broncos
Sunday October 27, 2013 4:25pm
FOX -- Thom Brennaman, Troy Aikman

Peyton Manning missed practice because of an ankle injury. Trust that he will be playing on Sunday though. That's enough for me to make a prediction.

Washington Redskins 20 Denver Broncos 41

Green Bay Packers vs. Minnesota Vikings
Sunday October 27, 2013 8:30pm
NBC -- Al Michaels, Cris Collinsworth

All of a sudden, Josh Freeman has a concussion. This means the Vikings will turn back to Christian Ponder. I didn't see where Freeman got the concussion, but it just seems like the Vikings were appalled at how terrible he was. It really doesn't matter if he isn't too familiar with the playcalls yet. Offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave has to be on thin ice.

Green Bay Packers 35 Minnesota Vikings 17

Seattle Seahawks vs. St. Louis Rams
Monday October 28, 2013 8:40pm
ESPN -- Mike Tirico, Jon Gruden

With Sam Bradford out, this will be an easy win for the Seahawks. I'm not sure who the Rams will turn to, but if they turn to Kellen Clemens, you can forget about it. They just signed Brady Quinn as well, and he isn't any better.

Seattle Seahawks 38 St. Louis Rams 14

NFL Week 7 Recap

Peyton Manning loses in his return to Indianapolis, and the Jets get a win in controversial fashion. Let's recap Week 7!

Seattle Seahawks 34 Arizona Cardinals 22

It seemed to be more Seahawks' fans at this game than Cardinals' fans, which is never a good thing for the home team. The Cardinals kept it close in the first half despite being dominated by the Seahawks. However, they couldn't keep it that way in the second half. With their next two games against the Rams and the Buccaneers, the Seahawks can keep things rolling before they come into the Georgia Dome for a rematch of the NFC Divisional Round game, which they narrowly lost.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 23 Atlanta Falcons 31

This wasn't a resounding win for the Falcons, so there should still be some concern. Mike Glennon was decent, and Matt Ryan did what he could with the weapons he has. For the Buccaneers, they are still searching for their first win. Greg Schiano has received a lot of criticism, and it doesn't seem as if the players like him either. It's a sure bet he's gone after the season.

St. Louis Rams 15 Carolina Panthers 30

Steve Smith went pouting again. He probably had reason to be upset with Janoris Jenkins if Jenkins was talking about Smith's wife. However, Smith has anger management issues that have reared its ugly head in the past. He needs to tone it down, for the better of his team. He could've cost the Panthers with a stupid penalty if the referees decided they wanted to send a message.

Lions' WR Calvin Johnson catches a touchdown pass over
three defenders.
Cincinnati Bengals 27 Detroit Lions 24

If the Lions want to get back to the playoffs, they need to win games like this. This loss is disappointing because Andy Dalton hadn't necessarily set the world on fire coming into this game. However, three touchdown passes and over 300 yards passing set the tone for a good offensive day. Two of the league's top receivers had highlight plays in this one. It was a fun one to watch.

San Diego Chargers 24 Jacksonville Jaguars 6

The Jaguars have the 49ers in London next week, so you can mark that as a loss. You can probably mark a loss on the road to the Titans after their bye week. However, they do have the Cardinals, Texans, and Browns in the next three, which is followed by another game to the Texans. With those three teams struggling, there's probably an opportunity for the Jaguars to get their first win.

Bills' DE Mario Williams brings down Dolphins'
QB Ryan Tannehill.
Buffalo Bills 23 Miami Dolphins 21

After starting the season 3-0, the Dolphins have lost three straight, including two of the three at home. They were starting to get people to believe they were an improved football team. I think we can now go back to believing they're just a 7-9 football team. The Bills' win in Miami without E.J. Manuel is kind of impressive. Maybe Thad Lewis can be a starter in this league also.

Jets' QB Geno Smith celebrates a rushing touchdown.
New England Patritos 27 New York Jets 30 OT

We all know the referees got the call right with the unsportsmanlike conduct penalty that gave the Jets a closer field goal and a win. Both quarterbacks threw a pick-six, but Brady and the Patriots continue to struggle offensively. This is easily the most frustrating season of his career. If the Jets had Mark Sanchez, they easily would lose this game. Geno Smith is learning from every game he plays.

Dallas Cowboys 17 Philadelphia Eagles 3

This game was surprisingly devoid of offense, and the Eagles just can't seem to win a home game. The last time they won at Lincoln Financial Field, it was Week 4 of last season against the Giants. They've played nine games since, and have lost all of them. The good news is, they get those same Giants at home next week. I guess they can have a nine-game home losing streak wrapped up by the Giants.

Bears' QB Jay Cutler suffers a groin injury, which will probably
keep him out for four weeks.
Chicago Bears 41 Washington Redskins 45

Jay Cutler is out for a significant amount of time, so things are not good for the Bears. Back in the 2011 season, Cutler had the Bears sitting pretty in November, but a season-ending thumb injury proved costly, as the Bears flamed out in December and failed to make the playoffs. Cutler isn't an elite quarterback. Heck, he's not even that good, but he is better than any other option on the team. This could hurt them like it hurt them back in that 2011 season.

San Francisco 49ers 31 Tennessee Titans 17

The 49ers played well offensively and defensively, but they usually do so. I thought having Jake Locker back would make the Titans much better, but it didn't do anything for them at all. If the Titans want to make that playoff push as well, they need statement wins. This was an opportunity that's now passed, so they must focus on getting wins.

Cleveland Browns 13 Green Bay Packers 31

Those Packers' uniforms aren't as bad as some people make it out to be. With that being said, the Browns surprisingly played a little close, but Aaron Rodgers was able to create the separation needed for an easy win. Jermichael Finley is also up and walking, as reports had it that he was in the intensive care unit yesterday. Good news for him and the Packers.

Steelers' K Shaun Suisham celebrates after kicking the
game-winning field goal.
Baltimore Ravens 16 Pittsburgh Steelers 19

Terrell Suggs said the team is in a state of emergency now, but people aren't looking much further than the money Joe Flacco has received when blaming the poor start for the Ravens. They haven't even looked that impressive in their wins, and have looked anemic offensively. Their upcoming bye week is one that is needed for them to regroup.

Texans' QB Case Keenum makes his first career start in the loss.
Houston Texans 16 Kansas City Chiefs 17

The Chiefs are now the only undefeated team in the league, and more surprising, now have a lead over the Broncos in the AFC West. Again, it wasn't pretty, but this defense has played very well and Alex Smith has limited the turnovers. Last year, they were riddled by turnovers from Brady Quinn and Matt Cassel. A sturdy, turnover-free quarterback is in place, and it has worked like magic for the Chiefs.

Colts' QB Andrew Luck and Broncos' QB Peyton Manning shake
hands after the game.
Denver Broncos 33 Indianapolis Colts 39

So many headlines going into this game, and now there are headlines coming out of this game. The Colts played well, especially in that third quarter when they were able to limit the Broncos. A week after scoring a season-low 35 points against the Jaguars, they score a season-low 33 in this loss. Not bad! The torn ACL for Reggie Wayne is one that hurts so much because he's a veteran leader on that team. Furthermore, he's not just all talk. Andrew Luck has relied on Wayne so much since he took over as quarterback. It'll be interesting to see how Luck can play without him.

Minnesota Vikings 7 New York Giants 23

Easily the worst Monday Night Football game this season, the Giants didn't give any reason to suggest they can turn the corner. It's too late to do so now, but as Steve Young said, the Giants should make a respectable season out of this. It was obvious the Giants would win when the Vikings decided to start Josh Freeman. Sure, Freeman is new to the team, playbook and players. However, is it Christian Ponder's fault the Vikings scored 30 points and lost to the Bears? They also scored 27 against the Browns only to lose. Ponder may not be good, but I know for sure he's better than Josh Freeman. No reason to make that switch at all.

NFL Week 7 Preview

Peyton Manning will finally make his way back to Indianapolis as an opponent for the first time, and division clashes across the league will headline Week 7. Let's preview Week 7!

Seattle Seahawks vs. Arizona Cardinals
Thursday October 17, 2013 8:25pm
NFL Network -- Brad Nessler, Mike Mayock

I'll still pick the Seahawks in this one, but the Cardinals should give people reason to believe. They hung in there with the 49ers in Candlestick Park last week. This is also the first meeting between Carson Palmer and Pete Carroll. Carroll was Palmer's head coach at USC. Also, Russell Wilson's first ever start came in this building. He had a chance to tie the game also and send it into overtime. Wilson might take that memory with him into this game.

Seattle Seahawks 24 Arizona Cardinals 20

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Atlanta Falcons
Sunday October 20, 2013 1pm
FOX -- Kevin Burkhardt, John Lynch

The Falcons are coming off a bye, and this is the perfect game for them. Coming in at a surprising 1-4, the Falcons will be without Julio Jones and possibly Roddy White. It'll be interesting to see how the offense performs without Jones. This could be a lost season, and it's unfortunate because Tony Gonzalez came back for this.

Tampa BayBuccaneers 13 Atlanta Falcons 23

Chicago Bears vs. Washington Redskins
Sunday October 20, 2013 1pm
FOX -- Kenny Albert, Daryl Johnston, Tony Siragusa

Usually I don't have trust in Jay Cutler to win on the road but this might be a game where he is able to do so. The Redskins' defense still isn't good and defenses are starting to catch on to the Redskins' offense. Unlike Russell Wilson and Colin Kaepernick, Robert Griffin III has to demonstrate a consistent ability to make all throws from the pocket. Until then, the Redskins may struggle.

Chicago Bears 31 Washington Redskins 23

Cowboys' CB Brandon Carr
Dallas Cowboys vs. Philadelphia Eagles
Sunday October 20, 2013 1pm
FOX -- Thom Brennaman, Troy Aikman

I'll give this game to the Eagles only because they're at home. However, it can go either way, and we're still not completely sure of how good or bad these teams are. One thing is for certain, however. Both of them are in a tie for first place, so both teams will be working hard to get the victory. A win in the division also helps a great deal.

Dallas Cowboys 20 Philadelphia Eagles 23

Patriots' QB Tom Brady chased by Jets' DT Sheldon Richardson.
New England Patriots vs. New York Jets
Sunday October 20, 2013 1pm
CBS -- Greg Gumbel, Dan Dierdorf

The Jets could've been coming into this game at 4-2, meaning a victory over the Patriots would've put them in a tie for first place in the AFC East. However, the Jets stunk it up against the lowly Steelers at home. The Jets could've beat the Patriots in New England back in Week 2. The Patriots are now suffering from injuries to key players, so I'll pick the Jets in a stunner.

New England Patriots 20 New York Jets 21

Buffalo Bills vs. Miami Dolphins
Sunday October 20, 2013 1pm
CBS -- Bill Macatee, Steve Tasker

Without E.J Manuel, there's no way the Bills win this game. Furthermore, the Dolphins are coming off of two straight losses, and they've had time to clear their heads during the bye week. I look for the Dolphins to control this from start to finish.

Buffalo Bills 13 Miami Dolphins 27

San Diego Chargers vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
Sunday October 20, 2013 1pm
CBS -- Spero Dedes, Steve Beuerlein

The Chargers might let this one slip away, so they must be focused on taking care of business and winning this game. I think it's too early to think the Jaguars will go 0-16, but there isn't a game on the schedule I've found yet to suggest they'll win one.

San Diego Chargers 30 Jacksonville Jaguars 14

St. Louis Rams vs. Carolina Panthers
Sunday October 20, 2013 1pm
FOX -- Dick Stockton, Brian Billick

The Panthers' defense is playing well, so all there's left is the offense to match the production from the defense. They did last week in the win against the Vikings. The Rams are coming off a surprise road win against the Texans, but the Texans have issues. I look for the Panthers to take advantage at home and win.

St. Louis Rams 10 Carolina Panthers 24

Lions' QB Matthew Stafford and WR Calvin Johnson.
Cincinnati Bengals vs. Detroit Lions
Sunday October 20, 2013 1pm
CBS -- Marv Albert, Rich Gannon

The Lions have two new additions this season in Reggie Bush and undrafted free agent tight end Joseph Fauria, who's the nephew of former NFL tight end Christian Fauria. Bush has been the best free agent pick up so far and Fauria has been a surprise. It has helped the Lions get off to a 4-2 start. The defense is also picking up and playing well also. DeAndre Levy is catching interceptions every week it seems, and Chris Houston and Louis Delmas being healthy is keeping the back end of the defense consistent. This should be a playoff team again.

Cincinnati Bengals 24 Detroit Lions 27

San Francisco 49ers vs. Tennessee Titans
Sunday October 20, 2013 4:05pm
FOX -- Chris Myers, Tim Ryan

If the Titans had Jake Locker, this would've been a good one. However, the 49ers can bank on Ryan Fitzpatrick throwing some bad passes and making some bad decisions. The Titans' defense is tough, but Colin Kaepernick will make enough plays to get them over.

San Francisco 49ers 20 Tennessee Titans 13

Baltimore Ravens vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
Sunday October 20, 2013 4:25pm
CBS -- Ian Eagle, Dan Fouts

When the season started, this was going to be the Game of the Week and it was going to be called by Jim Nantz and Phil Simms. However, the Ravens haven't necessarily been must watch, even as they stand at .500. The Steelers got their first win just last week, and it was ironically called by Nantz and Simms. Simply put, however, this game isn't a headline-grabber and now this game is being called by the annoying Ian Eagle and Dan Fouts.

Baltimore Ravens 17 Pittsburgh Steelers 20

Cleveland Browns vs. Green Bay Packers
Sunday October 20, 2013 4:25pm
CBS -- Kevin Harlan, Solomon Wilcots

Brandon Weeden's job was being advertised on Craigslist, so Browns' fans have obviously had enough of Weeden. If Weeden doesn't get things straight soon, he'll run out of opportunities. He just turned 30, so he may not get another opportunity if he doesn't straighten out now.

Cleveland Browns 10 Green Bay Packers 30

Texans' WR Andre Johnson and Chiefs' CB Brandon Flowers.
Houston Texans vs. Kansas City Chiefs
Sunday October 20, 2013 4:25pm
CBS -- Jim Nantz, Phil Simms

This game has replaced the Ravens-Steelers game as the Game of the Week. However, the Texans aren't doing as well as everyone thought they would. After starting 2-0, with two very close wins, they have lost four straight. They could very easily be 0-6 like the New York Giants. The Chiefs' defense is also something they don't want to see.

Houston Texans 7 Kansas City Chiefs 28

Broncos' QB Peyton Manning and Colts' owner Jim Irsay.
Denver Broncos vs. Indianapolis Colts
Sunday October 20, 2013 8:30pm
NBC -- Al Michaels, Cris Collinsworth

What a game! I cannot think of another NFL player in the last 20 years who has meant so much to a franchise and a city than Peyton Manning. If Manning hadn't played for the Colts, the Colts probably wouldn't be in Indianapolis today. Lucas Oil Stadium is the house that Manning built. It is kind of ironic because his brother won a Super Bowl there, and Peyton has an opportunity to do that later this season in Eli's house. I digress! Jim Irsay's comments were ungrateful and he probably wouldn't be saying what he said if he didn't have Andrew Luck.

Denver Broncos 45 Indianapolis Colts 27

Minnesota Vikings vs. New York Giants
Monday October 21, 2013 8:40pm
ESPN -- Mike Tirico, Jon Gruden

If the Giants do not win this game, then there isn't much to be said about the talent on their team. Not only should the Giants win this game, but they should win rather easily. A bright spot for the Giants has been their run defense. Jamaal Charles, LeSean McCoy and Matt Forte have all been bottled up against them, so let's see how they play against Adrian Peterson.

NFL Week 6 Recap

The Patriots get a dramatic win in the last seconds and hand the Saints their first loss, while the Rams keep the Texans in misery with a surprise blowout win. Let's recap Week 6!

Giants' TE Brandon Myers can't bring in the high pass, which is
intercepted by Bears' CB Tim Jennings.
New York Giants 21 Chicago Bears 27

When you're 0-6, the only thing you can look at are the encouraging things and build off of that. Sure, Eli Manning threw two early interceptions, but he was efficient after and Brandon Jacobs came in to start and gained over 100 yards. At this point, the Giants must continue to take it one game at a time. However, even they know this is a lost season.

Packers' WR Randall Cobb lay in pain after a hard hit to the knee
from Ravens' S Matt Elam.
Green Bay Packers 19 Baltimore Ravens 17

Aaron Rodgers knew right away that Matt Elam's hit on Randall Cobb was dirty. Everyone who was watching the game knew it was dirty. The excuse of defenders being unable to hit up high is old and tired. As Rodgers stated after the game, Elam had plenty of time to make a sound tackle on Cobb by hitting him in the ribs area. Now Cobb has a fractured fibula. This has nothing to do with Roger Goodell's mandate that players don't target the head area.

Bengals' K Mike Nugent celebrates with teammates after
kicking game-winning field goal in overtime.
Cincinnati Bengals 27 Buffalo Bills 24 OT

Thad Lewis had a solid performance considering it was just his second career start. Andy Dalton, however, was solid offensively and showed the country that when their offense is operating well, this is what it looks like. The only issue for Dalton is consistently doing so. The Bengals are in Detroit next week, so if both offenses are clicking in that one, it could be a shootout.

Detroit Lions 31 Cleveland Browns 17

The Lions were down 17-7 at the half, so it was an embarrassing performance for the Browns to be outscored 24-0 in the second half at home. Brandon Weeden's interception on a long, ill-advised shovel pass in the fourth quarter probably sums up Weeden at this point in his career. He's most likely not the answer for the Browns in future seasons.

St. Louis Rams 38 Houston Texans 13

Easily the shocker of the day. The Rams did whatever they wanted, whenever they wanted against the Texans in their building. Sure, the Texans haven't looked like the Super Bowl contending team many people expected. However, after this game, it gives me reason to believe the Texans certainly will not make the playoffs. The Rams are now 3-3, so that's good for them.

Oakland Raiders 7 Kansas City Chiefs 24

Terrelle Pryor said after the game that the Raiders would make the playoffs. Even though they won't, Raiders' fans have to be thrilled with having a quarterback who possesses this kind of enthusiasm and confidence. The Chiefs, now at 6-0, continue to keep pace with the Broncos atop the AFC West. I cannot wait for them to play each other.

Carolina Panthers 35 Minnesota Vikings 10

It was revealed Adrian Peterson didn't have much of a relationship with his 2-year old son who was killed after suffering from physical abuse at the hands of the mother's boyfriend. This is probably why he decided to play, but I won't speculate further. The Panthers did whatever they wanted to do in this game, and all of a sudden, after sneaking into the playoffs last year, the Vikings are horrible this year.

Pittsburgh Steelers 19 New York Jets 6

The Jets had a chance to improve to 4-2, and make next week's home game against the Patriots a battle for first place in the AFC East. However, the Jets came out with a dud, and the Steelers got back on track and finally won their first game of the season. The Steelers have the Ravens at home next week. Even though the Steelers have struggled, they are always angry playing the Ravens.

Philadelphia Eagles 31 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 20

Nick Foles continues to impress, and he is disputing the notion that Chip Kelly needs a running quarterback to run his system. His system is fast-paced and uptempo. However, a pocket passer is a good thing, mainly because he isn't tired to run plays at a quick pace. There were times when Michael Vick seemed completely out of gas after a run, and he's looking to the sideline hoping the playcall coming in will take a little while. Let's see what Kelly does moving forward.

Jacksonville Jaguars 19 Denver Broncos 35

I predicted a 52-3 score, but we must all remember that the Jaguars are an NFL team with pride. They heard all of the jokes about the Vegas spread and how the Broncos would completely destroy them. As grown men, they came out with the intentions of winning that football game, and even if they didn't, they certainly kept things close and interesting for the Broncos.

Tennessee Titans 13 Seattle Seahawks 20

Ryan Fitzpatrick threw two interceptions, but that isn't a surprise. The Seahawks were surprisingly sloppy in this one, and had Jake Locker been playing, the outcome probably could've been different. The only touchdown for the Titans came on a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown after the Seahawks botched a field goal attempt. The Titans sure miss Locker now.

Arizona Cardinals 20 San Francisco 49ers 32

Bruce Arians wasn't interested in just hanging with the 49ers in Candlestick Park. However, sometimes you just have to recognize your team for what they are, and there probably was very little chance the Cardinals would've won this game even at their best. Arians must build on this performance and take away the positives.

Patriots' WR Kenbrell Thompkins goes up over Saints' CB
Jabari Greer for the game-winning touchdown.
New Orleans Saints 27 New England Patriots 30

I've seen and heard criticism against Rob Ryan for his defensive scheme and the game-winning pass from Tom Brady to Kenbrell Thompkins. However, I didn't see any flaws in the call, and Thompkins simply out-jumped Jabari Greer to get the ball. It never seemed as if Greer put himself in good position to make a play anyway, so all of the blame should go on him. However, if you looked at all of the other receiving options, they were well covered up.

Washington Redskins 16 Dallas Cowboys 31

Robert Griffin III showed some of the explosive ability that has been non-existent before their bye week last week. However, he still hasn't done much to improve the offense, and with the defense struggling so far this season, Griffin III is going to need to play lights out if the Redskins are to salvage this season.

Indianapolis Colts 9 San Diego Chargers 19

The Chargers didn't blow a lead this time, so that's a great thing. Holding the Colts without a touchdown is very impressive as well. For the Colts, this is a game they could've won and taken a commanding lead in the AFC South. Furthermore, they could've shown the country they're able to go anywhere and get wins they're supposed to get. Two losses to the Dolphins and the Chargers should have them wanting more from themselves.

NFL Week 6 Preview

Week 6 features the defending champions against a potential Super Bowl contender, and the Chargers try to cure their recent Monday Night Football woes at home. Let's preview Week 6!

New York Giants vs. Chicago Bears
Thursday October 10, 2013 8:25pm
NFL Network -- Brad Nessler, Mike Mayock

This may sound crazy but this is a good game for the Giants to get their first win of the season. They'll have to watch out for turnovers, however. The Bears' defense loves to create turnovers. On the flipside, the Bears have to straighten themselves out after two consecutive losses, but this is a game they should win as well. I believe this is the first game the Giants give up under 31 points.

New York Giants 24 Chicago Bears 21

Ravens' Joe Flacco (left) and Packers' Aaron Rodgers
Green Bay Packers vs. Baltimore Ravens
Sunday October 13, 2013 1pm
FOX -- Kenny Albert, Daryl Johnston, Tony Siragusa

The Ravens are coming off of an impressive road victory in Miami, but they find themselves as the underdog at home. It won't be difficult for Joe Flacco to try and comb through the Packers' defense. It also won't be difficult for Aaron Rodgers. I'll give the edge to the better quarterback.

Green Bay Packers 27 Baltimore Ravens 24

Cincinnati Bengals vs. Buffalo Bills
Sunday October 13, 2013 1pm
CBS -- Kevin Harlan, Solomon Wilcots, Boomer Esiason

Just for the simple fact that the Bengals haven't won on the road yet and have not demonstrated they can, I'll go with the Bills. But wait? E.J. Manuel isn't playing. That's enough for me to swing it right back to the Bengals.

Cincinnati Bengals 20 Buffalo Bills 7

Detroit Lions vs. Cleveland Browns
Sunday October 13, 2013 1pm
FOX -- Tom McCarthy, Heath Evans

It's unclear whether Calvin Johnson will suit up for this one. He has missed practice all week, so he's probably doubtful. However, the Browns had something going with Brian Hoyer before he wrecked his knee. Now they're back to Brandon Weeden. The Lions' defense shouldn't have any problems defending.

Detroit Lions 23 Cleveland Browns 13

St. Louis Rams vs. Houston Texans
Sunday October 13, 2013 1pm
FOX -- Chris Myers, Tim Ryan

This is the perfect game for Matt Schaub, outside of the fact that he's playing at home. Houston fans have not taken kindly to Schaub this week after his performance this season. Apparently, some even showed up at his door. The Rams have not played well at all defensively, and Cortland Finnegan in particular has been getting burned all season. Perfect game for Schaub to avoid interceptions.

St. Louis Rams 14 Houston Texans 24

Oakland Raiders vs. Kansas City Chiefs
Sunday October 13, 2013 1pm
CBS -- Marv Albert, Rich Gannon

With Terrelle Pryor back, this will be a good one. I still believe the Chiefs' defense will get them the win, but Pryor is improving every game. By next year, he could have the Raiders contending for a playoff spot.

Oakland Raiders 17 Kansas City Chiefs 28

Carolina Panthers vs. Minnesota Vikings
Sunday October 13, 2013 1pm
FOX -- Sam Rosen, Brian Billick

The Panthers continue to struggle offensively, but the Vikings hasn't played well defensively at all. This could be a solid road win for the Panthers, but only if Cam Newton has his act right. He's been given way too much slack for being a top talent in this league, yet has played like a bottom 10 quarterback so far in his career.

Carolina Panthers 23 Minnesota Vikings 20

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. New York Jets
Sunday October 13, 2013 1pm
CBS -- Jim Nantz, Phil Simms, Bill Cowher

When this season started and we looked ahead to this game, we thought for sure the Jets would be struggling and the Steelers would be somewhere around .500 if not better. However, the Steelers have yet to get a win, while Geno Smith is at home with a chance to get the Jets to 4-2. It's all in the Jets' favor.

Pittsburgh Steelers 13 New York Jets 27

Philadelphia Eagles vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Sunday October 13, 2013 1pm
FOX -- Dick Stockton, Ronde Barber

DeSean Jackson told reporters Darrelle Revis won't be able to keep up with his speed. I'm not sure if Jackson is trying to provide bulletin board material, but he said what he said. At least he wasn't as harsh as LeSean McCoy was to Knowshon Moreno.

Philadelphia Eagles 20 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 13

Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Denver Broncos
Sunday October 13, 2013 4:05pm
CBS -- Ian Eagle, Dan Fouts, Shannon Sharpe

I feel a little bad I have to predict the final score to this game. I've seen some blowouts in my day, but I'm just not sure how bad of a loss this will be for the Jaguars. Peyton Manning had nothing but praise for the Jaguars. He talked about how they were a good red zone defense. That's just Manning playing it coy. This will get ugly.

Jacksonville Jaguars 3 Denver Broncos 52

Tennessee Titans vs. Seattle Seahawks
Sunday October 13, 2013 4:05pm
CBS -- Greg Gumbel, Dan Dierdorf

If Jake Locker were playing, this would've been a good game. Locker is a graduate of the University of Washington, close to Seattle. This would've been a homecoming game for him, but it isn't anymore. In is Ryan Fitzpatrick, and asking him to perform well against the Seahawks' defense with the noise in CenturyLink Field, is simply asking a lot.

Tennessee Titans 10 Seattle Seahawks 27

Arizona Cardinals vs. San Francisco 49ers
Sunday October 13, 2013 4:25pm
FOX -- Kevin Burkhardt, John Lynch

The Cardinals are actually sitting at 3-2, so it's been decent for them so far. They could've been 4-1 if they didn't blow a double-digit lead to the Rams in Week 1. Going up against the 49ers, however, is bigger than what the Cardinals have faced so far this year. The edge goes to the 49ers.

Arizona Cardinals 10 San Francisco 49ers 31

Saints' Drew Brees
New Orleans Saints vs. New England Patriots
Sunday October 13, 2013 4:25pm
FOX -- Thom Brennaman, Troy Aikman

This is a very good game that can go either way. The Patriots' offense isn't as potent as it once was, and that's because of the young wide receivers Tom Brady is dealing with. The Saints' offense is good, but they're not a juggernaut. They only scored 16 points against a good Buccaneers' defense, so with the right defensive gameplan, they can be slowed down. The key is slowing down Jimmy Graham and Darren Sproles. If the Patriots can do that, they'll come out of there with a win.

New Orleans Saints 24 New England Patriots 28

Washington Redskins vs. Dallas Cowboys
Sunday October 13, 2013 8:30pm
NBC -- Al Michaels, Cris Collinsworth

Last year on Thanksgiving Day, the Redskins surprised many people by their onslaught of the Cowboys in Cowboys Stadium. The Redskins are coming off a bye, and they're still relatively unknown. They won against the Raiders before the bye week, but that was only because Matt Flynn started. They could be winless at this point if Terrelle Pryor played that game. However, we see Robert Griffin III isn't running like he was last year, so this bye week probably helps. If he can get back to running, the Redskins can start winning games. I just don't believe it'll be this Sunday.

Washington Redskins 20 Dallas Cowboys 38

Colts' Andrew Luck and Reggie Wayne.
Indianapolis Colts vs. San Diego Chargers
Monday October 14, 2013 8:40pm
ESPN -- Mike Tirico, Jon Gruden

The last two times the Chargers were at home on Monday Night Football, they had a 24-0 lead against the Broncos, and a 28-7 lead against the Texans. The Chargers would go on to lose both games, so they probably would like to avoid grabbing a big lead in this one. The Chargers, at 2-3, are very capable of winning this game. However, I'm not sure their defense will hold up.

Indianapolis Colts 31 San Diego Chargers 28

NFL Week 5 Recap

The Giants surprisingly remain winless, and the other New York team gets a surprise win in the Georgia Dome on Monday night! Let's recap Week 5!

Buffalo Bills 24 Cleveland Browns 37

Both starters were injured in this game and will miss a significant amount of time. For the Bills, they're the team with the longest playoff drought, so they must be feeling snake-bitten with the injury to E.J. Manuel. At least it will not be a season-ending injury, unlike Brian Hoyer. Just when the Browns thought they found a quarterback who can win games for them, Hoyer tears his ACL and is out for the season. The day before, the Indians lost in the AL Wild Card game. Just the luck for Cleveland fans.

New Orleans Saints 26 Chicago Bears 18

Drew Brees had never won in Soldier Field coming into this game, so it was good to get that one out of the way. However, the Saints are playing well offensively, but that was expected. Last season, though, they were atrocious on defense, as it was clear defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo was never on the same page with his players. Insert new defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, and this defense is playing all out for him.

Patriots and Bengals play through the downpour in the fourth quarter.
New England Patriots 6 Cincinnati Bengals 13

We thought the Patriots had overcome their offensive woes with their win against the Falcons last week. After seeing this game, coupled with the Falcons performance against the Jets, we know the Patriots still have issues offensively. Tom Brady's streak of 52 consecutive games with a touchdown pass came to an end, as the Patriots didn't score a touchdown at all. The Bengals are 3-2, with three impressive home wins, and two lousy road losses. This team is still unpredictable.

Detroit Lions 9 Green Bay Packers 22

The way the Lions have played so far, it wasn't surprising to see the Packers struggle to distance themselves in this one. However, once word got out that Calvin Johnson wouldn't play, it was easy to figure out the Lions wouldn't be winning this game. However, they only gave up one touchdown so they should be impressed with their improving defense.

Colts' T.Y. Hilton apparently was motivated from the
trash talking from the Seahawks' Brandon Browner.
Seattle Seahawks 28 Indianapolis Colts 34

The Colts have beaten the 49ers and Seahawks, the class of the NFC West and the favorites in the NFC. The Colts could be 5-0 right now if it weren't for a loss to the Dolphins at home. The Seahawks had to come back down big against the Texans to win, and now loses to the Colts on the road. The Seahawks must either try to get home field advantage in the playoffs so they don't have to worry about playing on the road or they should take care of issues on the road.

Ravens' Ray Rice scores two touchdowns in the win.
Baltimore Ravens 26 Miami Dolphins 23

I was a little shocked the Dolphins couldn't beat the Ravens at home. Watching what the Bills did to the Ravens last week, I thought the Ravens would be seeing a tougher defense in Miami. Ray Rice scored two touchdowns, so that's a good sign for their offense because he hasn't really gotten off yet. An interesting game awaits the Ravens next week as they face the Packers at home. For the Dolphins, they let an opportunity to go 4-1 slip through the cracks.

Philadelphia Eagles 36 New York Giants 21

When things aren't going right, the blame is placed on the quarterback. Eli Manning has thrown a league-high 12 interceptions through five games, an astonishing number. However, as crazy as it may sound, Manning is playing the best ball out of anyone on that offense. Protection issues and a predictable offense has put Manning in spots where he's forced to make a play. Drops from wide receivers have also been noticeable. This 0-5 start is squarely on the offense, as the defense have been put in poor field position many times after turnovers. The Giants can turn it around, but turning it around means 7-9 or 8-8, definitely not enough for a playoff berth even in the "NFC Least."

Jacksonville Jaguars 20 St. Louis Rams 34

This game had boring written all over it, but at least the Jaguars scored 20 points. That's encouraging. At least the Rams' offense looked explosive. That's encouraging for them too. For the Jaguars, they lost Luke Joeckel with a broken ankle. He was only the second overall pick in this year's draft.

Kansas City Chiefs 26 Tennessee Titans 17

This game was an easy pick considering Ryan Fitzpatrick got the start instead of Jake Locker, who's injured and will miss several weeks. The next couple of games stack up nicely for the Chiefs, so they're well on their way to a very good season. Many people still believe the Broncos will win the division and the AFC. However, don't sleep on the Chiefs.

Carolina Panthers 6 Arizona Cardinals 22

Steve Smith criticized the referees, but he can't blame anyone for his drop that would've scored a touchdown had he caught the ball. It's also an excuse for the continued poor play of Cam Newton since he's been drafted. NBC analyst Rodney Harrison even went as far as to say Newton should be benched. I probably wouldn't go that far since the Panthers probably have no better option. It's clear, though, that Newton has been given way too much of a pass. He has to get this offense going or the Panthers will continue to be perennial losers.

Broncos' Peyton Manning scores his first rushing touchdown
since 2008.
Denver Broncos 51 Dallas Cowboys 48

Easily the best game of the season, but it's unfortunate how Tony Romo is being blamed for this loss. The defense gave up 51 points, yet Romo is to blame. Romo has gotten to a point now where if he makes just one mistake in the fourth quarter, he blows it for everyone else. Unfair but that's life for him.

Houston Texans 3 San Francisco 49ers 34

Matt Schaub has thrown a pick six in his fourth consecutive game, so he's on thin ice with Gary Kubiak. People have said Schaub should still be the starter because there are no other options, but I'm not quite sure about that. I believe it's a little too quick to pull the trigger and give up on him, but T.J. Yates played well when Schaub went out with injury back in the 2011 season. Yates is definitely just as good as Schaub and can easily take over and play well.

San Diego Chargers 17 Oakland Raiders 27

There is a reason why Raiders' fans booed Matt Flynn, and then the team proceeded to get rid of him. Terrelle Pryor came back and the offense looked good again, so Raiders' fans are excited at the possibility he's only going to get better and hopefully turn around the team's fortunes. That body slam of Sio Moore from D.J. Fluker was the highlight of this game.

Jets' Geno Smith turns in an efficient and turnover-free
game in the win.
New York Jets 30 Atlanta Falcons 28

This game revealed a couple of things to the national audience. When the Patriots lit up the Falcons' defense last week, I thought the Patriots had finally found their rhythm. However, after watching this game, I now believe the Falcons' defense simply suck. Even worse, bad coaching decisions continue to hurt them, and has contributed to a 1-4 record. The way the Saints are going now, there's no way the Falcons catch them. For Geno Smith, his poise in the loud and roudy atmosphere is something the Jets have been wanting from Mark Sanchez. Smith will struggle at times as he's only a rookie, but Jets' fans should be very encouraged with the future having Smith.

2013 NFL Week 5 Preview

The Lions look to get their first win in Lambeau Field in over 20 years, and the Broncos, Texans and Patriots are all on the road as we preview Week 5!

Buffalo Bills vs. Cleveland Browns
Thursday October 3, 2013 8:25pm
NFL Network -- Brad Nessler, Mike Mayock

Both teams are coming into this game with 2-2 records, which is a little surprising. The Browns won their last two games despite trading their best offensive player and going with the third-string quarterback. Browns should make it three straight at home.

Buffalo Bills 17 Cleveland Browns 24

Patriots' Tom Brady looks to lead team to victory in Cincinnati.
New England Patriots vs. Cincinnati Bengals
Sunday October 6, 2013 1pm
CBS -- Greg Gumbel, Dan Dierdorf

The Bengals are coming off of a bad loss to the state and division rival Browns, but they did get a big home win against the Packers the week before that. Maybe they can get another big home win. It won't come easy as Tom Brady is starting to click with his young wide receivers. By the way, the Patriots are undefeated as well. They should win this.

New England Patriots 28 Cincinnati Bengals 21

Packers' Aaron Rodgers looks to continue home domination
of the Lions.
Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers
Sunday October 6, 2013 1pm
FOX -- Kenny Albert, Daryl Johnston, Tony Siragusa

Reggie Bush has been on the biggest offseason acquisitions, if not the biggest. It is paying off for the Lions as he is a threat in the run and passing game. The Lions have lost their last 22 games at Lambeau Field, but like in 2011, the Lions have a real shot at beating the Packers. The Lions are also ahead of the Packers in the division, so the Packers will be motivated to get this one even though it's early in the season.

Detroit Lions 24 Green Bay Packers 34

Colts' Andrew Luck faces off against former college teammates
in Seahawks' Doug Baldwin and Richard Sherman.
Seattle Seahawks vs. Indianapolis Colts
Sunday October 6, 2013 1pm
FOX -- Kevin Burkhardt, John Lynch

Seahawks' receiver Doug Baldwin had a lot of praise for this quarterback, glowing over the guy's ability to lead the team despite having a limited amount of talent. Baldwin said this guy could be the best ever to play in the league when it's all said and done. Baldwin was not talking about his quarterback Russell Wilson. Baldwin was talking about his college quarterback, Andrew Luck. I wonder how Wilson feels about that.

Seattle Seahawks 17 Indianapolis Colts 21

Baltimore Ravens vs. Miami Dolphins
Sunday October 6, 2013 1pm
CBS -- Marv Albert, Rich Gannon

Joe Flacco was intercepted five times last week in Buffalo, and things will not get easier in Miami. With Brent Grimes playing the outside, the Dolphins are a solid defense against the pass. Factor in the play of the entire defense, and the Dolphins should be able to win this game. The offense for the Ravens simply hasn't done much to brag about so far.

Baltimore Ravens 16 Miami Dolphins 27

New Orleans Saints vs. Chicago Bears
Sunday October 6, 2013 1pm
FOX -- Joe Buck, Troy Aikman

The Bears are 3-1, but I'm not quite convinced they're good yet because of Jay Cutler. Simply put, I've never trusted Cutler, but the Bears can win this game against the high-powered Saints. Drew Brees will have to throw the ball as usual, and Charles Tillman and Tim Jennings will have plenty of opportunities to intercept passes and return them for touchdowns. I think it'll happen one time in this game.

New Orleans Saints 27 Chicago Bears 31

Philadelphia Eagles vs. New York Giants
Sunday October 6, 2013 1pm
FOX -- Thom Brennaman, Brian Billick

Both of these teams need a win in the worse way. Simply put, they were both horrible last week in blowout losses. The Giants need it more, however. There's a sense the Giants still have hope because of the lackluster play from the other teams in the division. A home win against a division rival could set the table for a string of wins if the Giants use their talents correctly. I think the Giants get the monkey off their back in this one.

Philadelphia Eagles 20 New York Giants 24

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Tennessee Titans
Sunday October 6, 2013 1pm
CBS -- Kevin Harlan, Solomon Wilcots

This game probably wouldn't have been interesting at the start of the season, but it's an intriguing game now. The Chiefs come in undefeated, while the Titans could've been undefeated had they held on to a fourth-quarter lead against the Texans in Week 2. Both defenses have played well, but the difference in this game will be the absence of Jake Locker. Ryan Fitzpatrick will assume the starter's duties and he just isn't good.

Kansas City Chiefs 20 Tennessee Titans 6

Jacksonville Jaguars vs. St. Louis Rams
Sunday October 6, 2013 1pm
CBS -- Bill Macatee, Steve Tasker

Easily the worst game of Week 5, I feel sorry for Bill Macatee and Steve Tasker. However, they're used to calling the worse games for CBS, so they'll just have to witness the events that take place on the field. The disappointing part for the Rams is they haven't used rookie receiver Tavon Austin to the best of his abilities, and it's holding the offense back. This is the perfect game for Sam Bradford to build chemistry with Austin. It sucks the Jaguars could be used for practice.

Jacksonville Jaguars 10 St. Louis Rams 27

Carolina Panthers vs. Arizona Cardinals
Sunday October 6, 2013 4:05pm
FOX -- Chris Myers, Tim Ryan

This is a game between two quarterbacks who seem to be overhyped. Cam Newton is widely regarded as one of the best talents in the game, but hasn't led the Panthers anywhere so far in his career. His accuracy is an issue, and it holds the offense back many times. Carson Palmer has lived off of the reputation of his play before the knee injury he suffered in the playoffs back in January 2006. Simply put, he hasn't been good since then, and the Raiders traded away a number of draft picks to acquire him back in 2011. But Palmer is the better quarterback of the two.

Carolina Panthers 14 Arizona Cardinals 27

Broncos' Peyton Manning will try to keep his foot on the gas pedal.
Denver Broncos vs. Dallas Cowboys
Sunday October 6, 2013 4:25pm
CBS -- Jim Nantz, Phil Simms

The Broncos have just been torching teams so far, scoring 49 in a win against the Ravens, 41 against the Giants, and 52 against the Eagles. The Cowboys at home have a chance to win this game, but I believe that offense for the Broncos will continue to roll. The last time the Broncos even lost a regular season game was this time last season. They've been on a roll for a while now.

Denver Broncos 38 Dallas Cowboys 24

49ers' Frank Gore hopes the coaches run the ball a lot once again.
Houston Texans vs. San Francisco 49ers
Sunday October 6, 2013 8:30pm
NBC -- Al Michaels, Cris Collinsworth

J.J. Watt's postgame reaction to the Texans loss last week to the Seahawks was comical. We've grown accustomed to seeing Watt very engaging and happy. Losses, especially the one the Texans suffered, should make him feel the way he did. It's not getting easier for Matt Schaub either. The Texans should be very concerned with wasting away their most talented team with a quarterback that isn't talented.

Houston Texans 20 San Francisco 49ers 27

San Diego Chargers vs. Oakland Raiders
Sunday October 6, 2013 11:30pm
NFL Network -- Ian Eagle, Dan Fouts

These two teams spoke of switching stadiums since they are scheduled to play in San Diego in December. I'm not sure why that didn't go through, but to accomodate Game 2 of the ALDS between the Detroit Tigers and Oakland Athletics on Saturday, the NFL has moved this game to 11:30pm. Luckily, this game isn't one people will care much to see. If Terrelle Pryor plays, this game could be a good one. If not, the Chargers should win easily. I'll make my prediction off of Pryor playing.

San Diego Chargers 27 Oakland Raiders 24

New York Jets vs. Atlanta Falcons
Monday October 7, 2013 8:40pm
ESPN -- Mike Tirico, Jon Gruden

The Jets are 2-2, which is surprising to some people. It really shouldn't surprise people, however, because those wins came at home against the Buccaneers and Bills. This game is a much tougher test, and it doesn't make it easy when the Falcons are 1-3 and desperate for a win. Much has been said about the mistakes Geno Smith has made. I think it's being made into a bigger deal than it really should be. Smith has made far better decisions than Mark Sanchez, and that's what matters.

New York Jets 13 Atlanta Falcons 30
