Week 7 Review

Seattle Seahawks 6 San Francisco 49ers 13

QB Alex Smith struggled in this game as well, the second consecutive home game in which he has struggled. They were playing an excellent Seahawks' defense indeed, but 49ers RB Frank Gore was able to get the offense going just enough for the victory. The Seahawks' offense missed several opportunities for big plays, and Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch didn't have the game needed to help the team.

Titans WR Nate Washington catches touchdown
pass for the game-winner.
Tennessee Titans 35 Buffalo Bills 34

This game was a back and forth, high scoring affair. At the end, Titans QB Matt Hasselbeck was able to complete a touchdown pass on fourth down with the game on the line. It will continue to raise the question as to whether it was a good decision to bench Hasselbeck in favor of the much younger QB Jake Locker. Hasselbeck led the Titans to a 9-7 record last season, and the Titans had an outside shot at making the playoffs in the final week of the season.

Dallas Cowboys 19 Carolina Panthers 14

Panthers QB Cam Newton's pouting and crybaby act is getting old. Very old. The Cowboys did just enough to escape Charlotte with a victory. The story of this game was Newton's press conference, where he looked dejected and out of it. Newton does not deserve to be a starting quarterback in this league if he's going to continue to act this way.

Baltimore Ravens 13 Houston Texans 43

Most people will point to the fact that Ravens LB Ray Lewis and CB Lardarius Webb were out for this game. It probably wouldn't have mattered. Ravens QB Joe Flacco is showing why he can't be trusted to lead his team to a Super Bowl. It took analysts and media pundits a long time to give any form of credit to New York Giants QB Eli Manning. Flacco has been given credit already, and quite frankly, he doesn't have much to show for what he's been given credit for.

Cleveland Browns 13 Indianapolis Colts 17

The Browns had an opportunity to get the go-ahead touchdown. Browns QB Brandon Weeden through a nice deep ball to WR Greg Little. The sun got in his eyes and he dropped the pass, much to the dismay of the new owner sitting in the press box. While the Browns are 1-6, they may been pretty competitive in just about every game. Things are probably looking up for the Browns.

Arizona Cardinals 14 Minnesota Vikings 21

The Cardinals started off at 4-0, which included an impressive road victory against the New England Patriots. They have now lost three straight, and with QB John Skelton at the helm, it could get worse. QB Kevin Kolb has been surprisingly decent, not making the mistakes that has cost the Cardinals in the past. Where do the Cardinals go from here? Meanwhile, the Vikings continue to win against opponents they should beat.

Giants WR Victor Cruz races past the defense for the game-winning
score.
Washington Redskins 23 New York Giants 27

Redskins QB Robert Griffin III simply left too much time on the clock for Giants QB Eli Manning. Manning was able to bounce back after two poor interceptions to throw the game-winning 77-yard score to WR Victor Cruz. A week after having perhaps the most dominating performance of any team in any one game against the 49ers last week, the Giants struggled to contain Griffin III and Redskins RB Alfred Morris. However, they got to Griffin III and caused several turnovers in the second half which helped them put the offense in position to win.

Green Bay Packers 30 St. Louis Rams 20

The Packers got the win, but it was very costly. Up 30-13 in the fourth quarter, the Packers lost CB Charles Woodson to what was diagnosed as a broken collarbone. Woodson broke his collarbone in Super Bowl XLV in what appeared to be the same exact way he broke it in St. Louis. He'll miss approximately six weeks, which can be damaging to the Packers defense.

Saints QB Drew Brees celebrates after the victory in
Tampa.
New Orleans Saints 35 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 28

Saints QB Drew Brees had four touchdown passes and over 300 yards passing in the first half alone en route to a close win in Tampa. The Buccaneers had an opportunity to tie the game as well, but a penalty on what would've been the game-winning score, ended the game. The Buccaneers were also involved in another small controversy. They received a penalty on a field-goal attempt for baiting the Saints into a false start with words. Greg Schiano has some tricks up his sleeve.

Jets QB Mark Sanchez fumbles in overtime,
ending the game.
New York Jets 26 New England Patriots 29 OT

The Jets certainly played much better than most people would've thought. Even though the Patriots came away with the victory, they cannot expect to play this way and think they'll win another championship. The Jets had an opportunity to win this game after Patriots CB Devin McCourty fumbled the kickoff. However, their conservative play-calling only got them a go-ahead field goal, leaving enough time for Patriots QB Tom Brady.

Jacksonville Jaguars 23 Oakland Raiders 26 OT

This game was easily the least intriguing matchup of Week 7. However, it was close and did require a comeback from Raiders QB Carson Palmer to get the victory. For the Jaguars, they lost their starting quarterback and starting running back to injury. To a team that's easily one of the worse in the league, this is a severe blow.

Pittsburgh Steelers 24 Cincinnati Bengals 17

The Steelers had an opportunity to get their first road victory last week in Tennessee, but they blew that. They probably preferred to get it against the Bengals, a team they have historically dominated. This game was an important division game, especially after the Ravens lost earlier in the day. The Steelers have put themselves in decent position, while the Bengals continue to falter a season after surprising everyone.

Detroit Lions 7 Chicago Bears 13

Lions QB Matthew Stafford continued his dreadful play for the first three quarters, and Bears QB Jay Cutler was economical in this Monday night snoozer. Lions WR Calvin Johnson continues to struggle as well, mainly due to Stafford's erratic play and inaccuracy. The Lions had three red zone opportunities and blew them all due to turnovers. At 2-4, the Lions are in trouble. At 5-1, the Bears are being looked at as Super Bowl contenders.
