Week 6 Review

Pittsburgh Steelers 23 Tennessee Titans 26

This was supposed to be the game where the Steelers would've been able to break their early season road woes. The Steelers, now at 2-3 and 2.5 games behind the AFC North leading Baltimore Ravens, seem to be in a world of trouble. QB Ben Roethlisberger and the offense have not been able to get going like they envisioned. The defense has not been as stellar as it has been in the past either. Have injuries and age caught up to this team?

Oakland Raiders 20 Atlanta Falcons 23

Even though the Falcons are 6-0, it's kind of hard to say they are the NFL's best team when they struggled to beat the Carolina Panthers at home, and now the Raiders. However, the Falcons are finding ways to get the job done, and going into their bye week, they couldn't be more thrilled to be undefeated. Falcons QB Matt Ryan struggled early, throwing three interceptions in the first half. However, a fourth quarter interception by Falcons CB Asante Samuel that was returned for a touchdown put the Falcons in control.

Kansas City Chiefs 10 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 38

Chiefs QB Brady Quinn started this game for injured QB Matt Cassel, and things weren't much better. Buccaneers QB Josh Freeman threw for over 300 yards and three touchdown passes en route to an easy blowout win. Veteran CB Ronde Barber chipped in with a long interception returned for a touchdown in a rather uninteresting Week 6 matchup.

Indianapolis Colts 9 New York Jets 35

Jets QB Mark Sanchez only threw for under 100 yards, and keeping it out of Sanchez's hands is probably the formula for the Jets' success. RB Shonn Greene ran for 161 yards and three touchdowns, and rookie QB Andrew Luck threw two interceptions and only completed half of his passes in a humbling loss. Coming off an emotional home victory against the Green Bay Packers last week, the Jets seemed to be ready for another emotional performance from the Colts. It was either that, or the Colts were emotionally drained after last week.

Cincinnati Bengals 24 Cleveland Browns 34

In what many predicted would be the Browns first victory of the season, the Browns put their best performance together in about a year for the win. The Browns picked off Bengals QB Andy Dalton three times, while Browns QB Brandon Weeden threw two touchdown passes in the win. After RB Trent Richardson left the game with an injury, RB Montario Hardesty stepped in and scored a touchdown. After a surprise playoff appearance last season, the Bengals are falling yet again.

Detroit Lions 26 Philadelphia Eagles 23 OT

In what turned out to be a costly loss for Juan Castillo, the Eagles gave up a ten point lead in the fourth quarter en route to an overtime loss to the Lions. Eagles QB Michael Vick had three turnovers in this game, including two interceptions against a defense that had no interceptions as a team coming into the game. The Eagles got the ball first in overtime, but Vick was sacked twice en route to a deflating three-and-out and boos from the home crowd. Castillo, the Eagles defensive coordinator, was fired this morning and replaced by secondary coach Todd Bowles.

St. Louis Rams 14 Miami Dolphins 17

Rams K Greg Zuerlein attempted a 66-yard field goal to tie the game and send it to overtime. He missed wide left, but was able to get the distance on the kick. Zuerlein is impressing the league each week with his strong leg comparable to that of Raiders K Sebastian Janikowski. On a lesser note, Rams coach Jeff Fisher lost to the team that was vying for his services this offseason.

Dallas Cowboys 29 Baltimore Ravens 31

The Cowboys managed to do everything in the game but win. In a disheartening turn of events at the end of the game in which the Cowboys had numerous opportunities to tie or take the lead, the Cowboys fell short. Down 31-23, WR Dez Bryant caught a 4-yard touchdown pass. However, Bryant was not able to catch the two-point conversion as it bounced off of his shoulder pads. The Cowboys were able to recover the ensuing onside kick, and another completion to Bryant put the Cowboys in field goal range. Time mismanagement put the Cowboys further than they wanted to be for the game-winning field goal, and the Ravens escaped with a hefty cost. The Ravens lost LB Ray Lewis and CB Lardarius Webb for the season, and DL Haloti Ngata has a torn MCL he'll attempt to play on.

Buffalo Bills 19 Arizona Cardinals 16 OT

Cardinals K Jay Feely makes the 61-yard field goal, but he clanks on the easier 38-yard attempt that would've won the Cardinals the game. An interception in overtime by QB John Skelton put the Bills in great position to win the game, and they seized the opportunity. The Bills, in a very strange and polarizing season, are now tied with all of the other three teams in the AFC East division with a 3-3 record.

New England Patriots 23 Seattle Seahawks 24

Seahawks CB Richard Sherman had a message for Patriots QB Tom Brady during the game and after. The Patriots blew a 13-point lead and lost in Brady's only appearance in the Pacific Northwest. The game-winning touchdown from QB Russell Wilson was a beauty to WR Sidney Rice. The Seahawks, now at 4-2, are getting ready for their NFC West showdown with the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday, while the Patriots have a division battle of their own against the Jets on Sunday.

New York Giants 26 San Francisco 49ers 3

Both teams were anxiously awaiting this game to prove their supremacy in the NFC. In a rematch of the NFC Championship Game, the Giants rolled over the 49ers, picking off QB Alex Smith three times as the 49ers never got into the red zone. Giants QB Eli Manning had an economical day, and RB Ahmad Bradshaw rushed for over 100 yards and scored a rushing touchdown, something the 49ers defense has not allowed at home in quite some time.

Minnesota Vikings 26 Washington Redskins 38

A week after suffering what appeared to be a brutal concussion, Redskins QB Robert Griffin III was all smiles as he threw for a touchdown and rushed for two more. The Vikings defense hadn't allowed more than 23 points all year, and the Redskins were able to surpass that mark with ease. The Redskins finally snapped their eight-game losing streak at home as they prepare to face the defending champions next week.

Green Bay Packers 42 Houston Texans 24

The Packers were doubted going into this game, but they showed exactly why they should still be considered Super Bowl contenders. The Texans, meanwhile, received a humbling home loss and reminders that they may not be able to compete with the likes of the Packers, 49ers and Giants. This can only help the Texans going forward, as they have a strong defense and a strong running game. The Falcons are the only team now sitting undefeated, maybe because they have not faced a good team yet.

Broncos QB Peyton Manning is relieved after the comeback
victory.
Denver Broncos 35 San Diego Chargers 24

The Chargers went into the locker room leading 24-0, and the Broncos were looking as pathetic as they did last week against the Patriots. However, QB Peyton Manning led the Broncos to an amazing comeback, which the defense contributed to heavily as well. This is a deflating loss for the Chargers, as they will most certainly compete with the Broncos for the AFC West title. Three interceptions from Chargers QB Philip Rivers cost the Chargers the game.
