Monday Night Recap

CB Charles Tillman returns an interception from
QB Tony Romo for a touchdown.
If the Dallas Cowboys plan on living up to their supposed Super Bowl hype this season, they know what they can't play like if they want to get there. Exhibit A was last night's home debacle against the Chicago Bears, where Cowboys QB Tony Romo was intercepted five times for the second time in his career. Two of the five interceptions went for touchdowns, as the Cowboys enter a tough stretch at 2-2. In their next five games, the Cowboys play the Baltimore Ravens, Carolina Panthers, the defending champion New York Giants, Atlanta Falcons and the Philadelphia Eagles.

Four out of the next five could be losses for the Cowboys, but they also have the talent to come away with wins. This stretch may define and determine what the Cowboys may be going into the home stretches of the season in late November and December, where they have historically struggled as of late. The last time Romo threw five interceptions was also in a Monday Night football game against the Buffalo Bills at Buffalo. The Cowboys miraculously won that game, but there would be no miracles in Jerry Jones' house last night.

Meanwhile, the Bears weren't too effective on offense in the first half, only getting a field goal and being helped by a interception return for a touchdown by CB Charles Tillman. However, the Bears offense and defense turned it up in the second half, and Bears QB Jay Cutler was able to get the ball to his favorite target WR Brandon Marshall. Marshall had seven catches for 138 yards and an easy touchdown.

The Bears next four games are against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Detroit Lions, Carolina Panthers and Tennessee Titans. The Bears can run off an undefeated streak in these four games, in addition to winning last night's game and last week's game against the St. Louis Rams. The Bears have an opportunity to possibly surprise many and win this division. The Green Bay Packers are still the favorites, and it still very early in the season. However, the Bears have a good defense to compliment their rushing attack and decent passing game.

The Cowboys have a rough division to compete with, but it is very possible they can still win the division. A lot of inconsistency resides in the NFC East, so the team that takes care of business like the Giants did last season towards the end will win this division. Romo has struggled in the month of December, so a good start would've been beneficial. The opportunity for a solid start was there. They went into MetLife Stadium and defeated the defending champion. However, not much has gone right since. This may turn into a disaster if the offense doesn't get up to speed.
