Week 8 Review

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 36 Minnesota Vikings 17

Buccaneers QB Josh Freeman came in on a roll lately. Vikings QB Christian Ponder came in very turnover prone and inaccurate. That didn't change in this game. Freeman didn't necessarily light up the Vikings defense, but it was the inability of the Vikings offense to keep pace with the Buccaneers that lost them the game. Buccaneers RB Doug Martin had 214 total yards, including a 64-yard touchdown reception on a screen pass. The Vikings were playing from behind the entire way.

Bears QB Jay Cutler is sacked by Panthers DL Dwan Edwards.
Carolina Panthers 22 Chicago Bears 23

The Bears were fortunate to escape their home field with a victory. For the Panthers, QB Cam Newton's interception that was returned for a touchdown by Bears CB Tim Jennings probably was the blow that sealed a Bears win. The Panthers were thoroughly dominating the Bears offense, getting to QB Jay Cutler and forcing him into bad throws. The Panthers have had opportunities for victories in Atlanta and Chicago. Those two losses have to be disheartening.

San Diego Chargers 6 Cleveland Browns 7

Chargers QB Philip Rivers and the offense couldn't get anything going. In the third quarter, WR Robert Meachem dropped a potential easy touchdown pass. That was about the only opportunity the Chargers had for a touchdown. The Browns didn't do much either, but RB Trent Richardson was effective running the ball again. He has been a big bright spot for the Browns.

Seattle Seahawks 24 Detroit Lions 28

This was certainly looking like another loss for the Lions in front of their home crowd. Lions QB Matthew Stafford has struggled so far this season, but he led a spectacular 16-play drive that culminated in a game-winning one-yard touchdown reception for WR Titus Young. Young had nine catches for 100 yards and two touchdowns for his best game as a Lion. Seahawks QB Russell Wilson was efficient, and RB Marshawn Lynch rushed for over 100 yards on just 12 carries. It wasn't enough for Stafford and the explosive Lions' offense.

Jacksonville Jaguars 15 Green Bay Packers 24

It was a little surprising this game was sort of neck and neck throughout. Packers QB Aaron Rodgers was playing without his top two receivers in WR Jordy Nelson and WR Greg Jennings. It was the old reliable WR Donald Driver who sealed the Packers win in the fourth quarter with his four-yard touchdown reception. Jaguars QB Blaine Gabbert was healthy enough to play after what appeared to be a serious shoulder injury last week against the Oakland Raiders.

Miami Dolphins 30 New York Jets 9

There was a lot of trash-talking going on between the two teams and the Dolphins ended up getting the last laugh. The Dolphins embarrassed the Jets in front of their home crowd, and fans were already heading for the exits at halftime. Going into their bye week, the Jets will be faced with questions as to whether QB Mark Sanchez will keep his starting job. Also, will QB Tim Tebow's role increase a little bit?

Former Eagles CB Asante Samuel celebrates the Falcons victory.
Atlanta Falcons 30 Philadelphia Eagles 17

The more stunning thing about this game happened at the game's conclusion. Eagles QB Michael Vick revealed at his postgame press conference that head coach Andy Reid is considering a quarterback change. For Vick to reveal that probably had everyone in the room stunned, and most Eagles fans as well. This was the Eagles first game after the bye week, when they fired their defensive coordinator Juan Castillo. The Eagles then proceeded to play their worst defensive game of the season. I guess Castillo isn't to blame.

Washington Redskins 12 Pittsburgh Steelers 27

Many people thought Redskins QB Robert Griffin III would make the Steelers defense look old and slow. It was the complete opposite. It was sort of a humbling experience for the Redskins and Griffin III as they were dominated by a Steelers team with ugly uniforms. Griffin III only had 10 yards rushing and under 200 yards passing. Meanwhile, Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger improved to 14-0 against rookie quarterbacks in his career.

New England Patriots 45 St. Louis Rams 7

The Rams got off to a good start, scoring on their first possession. Things were looking interesting after the Rams took that 7-0 lead. The Patriots got angry and decided to rip off 45 unanswered for the easy victory in Wembley Stadium. It was a successful international trip for them.

Indianapolis Colts 19 Tennessee Titans 13 OT

This game was pretty even, which was expected. Colts RB Vick Ballard had the highlight of the day, and it was the game-winner. Ballard had the game-winning 16-yard touchdown reception, diving into the end zone and getting spun around in the air. The Colts are now 4-3, and with the rest of the AFC very mediocre, the Colts can surprise many and get to the playoffs this season.

Oakland Raiders 26 Kansas City Chiefs 16

I gave the benefit of the doubt to the home team because I thought both teams were bad. It appears the Chiefs are very bad. The Raiders won five straight at Arrowhead Stadium coming into the game, and some things never change. Raiders QB Carson Palmer had a decent game en route to the victory. The Chiefs troubles continue. They have not led at all this season in regulation, taking their only lead at any point this season in overtime in their victory against the New Orleans Saints. Chiefs QB Brady Quinn got the start, but he was injured. In comes QB Matt Cassel, who wasn't much better. The Chiefs simply aren't playing with the same spirit they showed late last season after Todd Haley was fired.

Cowboys WR Dez Bryant caught what would've been the
game-winning touchdown if he wasn't out of bounds.
New York Giants 29 Dallas Cowboys 24

This was a game the Cowboys could've had to build momentum going forward. They were down 23-0 and things appeared very bleak. However, the Cowboys scored 24 unanswered to take their only lead. The Cowboys simply couldn't keep it going, as six turnovers hurt them badly. The Giants offense was struggling. The receivers got no separation from the Cowboys secondary. The Giants also struggled to get touchdowns in the red zone. They've struggled all season with that. They'll need to fix that.

New Orleans Saints 14 Denver Broncos 34

After this win, the Broncos are now 4-3. Looking at the remainder of their schedule, it's difficult to find where the Broncos will actually lose again. They play the Baltimore Ravens in Baltimore in December. However, Manning has been dominant playing in Baltimore as a member of the Indianapolis Colts. The Broncos got through their toughest section of the season early, playing the Atlanta Falcons, Houston Texans, and New England Patriots. When the season is over, the Broncos might be the best in the AFC.

San Francisco 49ers 24 Arizona Cardinals 3

After a 4-0 start, the Cardinals have played exactly how many analysts expected them to. They are now 4-4 and it doesn't appear they will be stopping this slide anytime soon. The 49ers were too dominant, it's surprising they only scored 24 points. 49ers QB Alex Smith only had one incompletion the entire game. This is a game the Cardinals would like to forget about very quickly.

Week 8 Preview

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings are coming into this game undefeated at home, but this game can be very interesting. Vikings QB Christian Ponder has been turnover prone, throwing multiple interceptions in the past several games. The Vikings have been a surprise, however, at 5-2. They have capitalized on some easy games while winning impressively against the San Francisco 49ers and their only road win against division foe Detroit Lions. The Buccaneers aren't necessarily coming in hot, but Buccaneers QB Josh Freeman has been hot in the past two games. They'll need for him to continue that if they want to win.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 13 Minnesota Vikings 20

Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Green Bay Packers

The Jaguars are running into a superior team at the wrong time. The Jaguars lost RB Maurice Jones-Drew and QB Blaine Gabbert due to injuries in last week's loss to the Oakland Raiders. They are not likely to have either against the Packers. QB Aaron Rodgers and company will look to roll over this Jaguars team.

Jacksonville Jaguars 10 Green Bay Packers 38

Miami Dolphins vs. New York Jets

There is a little bit of drama going into this game. Jets head coach Rex Ryan is demanding Dolphins RB Reggie Bush apologize for his comments on CB Darrelle Revis' injury in their first matchup. Bush refuses. Bush got hurt in that first matchup as well. Will the Jets look to hurt him again? The Dolphins are ahead of the Jets by a half game by virtue of having a bye week last week, while the Jets lost in overtime to the New England Patriots. This game is somewhat important for both teams.

Miami Dolphins 17 New York Jets 27

San Diego Chargers vs. Cleveland Browns

This could be a tricky game for the Chargers. The Browns are 1-6, but they have been fairly competitive for the most part. On the other hand, the Chargers could've been walking into this game at 5-1 and in good position in the AFC West. They held a ten point lead in the fourth quarter against the New Orleans Saints that vanished. They followed that up by giving up a 24-0 halftime lead and losing to the division foe Denver Broncos. This game is critical for the Chargers.

San Diego Chargers 23 Cleveland Browns 20

Indianapolis Colts vs. Tennessee Titans

This game is a winnable game for both teams. When QB Andrew Luck looks sharp, the Colts have been tough to stop as we saw in the second half of their game against the Packers. However, the Titans have been fairly better as an offense with QB Matt Hasselbeck at the helm as opposed to QB Jake Locker. Both teams are pretty even on other fronts. Both teams have average defenses and not much of a running game. Titans RB Chris Johnson did break out last week against the Buffalo Bills. The Titans are hoping that's just the beginning of a lot of good.

Indianapolis Colts 23 Tennessee Titans 28

Eagles QB Michael Vick suffered a concussion last season
against the Falcons.
Atlanta Falcons vs. Philadelphia Eagles

After firing Juan Castillo as the team's defensive coordinator, the Eagles are being watched by the entire country to see what will be different. Furthermore, most people will be wondering if QB Michael Vick's days as the quarterback will be numbered. Head coach Andy Reid looks very serious about making changes if things don't improve, obviously to save his own job. This might very well be a statement game against an undefeated Falcons team who have taken advantage of an easy schedule. Don't forget. They almost lost two home games to the Carolina Panthers and Oakland Raiders.

Atlanta Falcons 20 Philadelphia Eagles 24

Carolina Panthers vs. Chicago Bears

Just when the Panthers continue to look for soft spots in their schedule, they have to travel to Soldier Field and take on a Bears team who have been somewhat dominant on defense. They've also forced a number of turnovers, and they know opportunities await them. Panthers QB Cam Newton isn't accurate, so some passes may very well end up in the arms of the defense.

Carolina Panthers 3 Chicago Bears 27

Seattle Seahawks vs. Detroit Lions

This battle is now being labeled Optimus Prime vs. Megatron. Everyone knows Megatron is Lions WR Calvin Johnson. So who's Optimus Prime? That will be Seahawks CB Richard Sherman, who became a little popular after stuffing the Seahawks' win over the Patriots earlier this season in Patriots QB Tom Brady's face. Johnson will most certainly use this ploy from Sherman as motivation. He'll also use this season's statistics as motivation as well. Johnson has not put up the numbers he's accustomed to putting up. That has not been his fault. That is squarely on QB Matthew Stafford's inaccuracy and wild throwing mechanics.

Seattle Seahawks 13 Detroit Lions 14

New England Patriots vs. St. Louis Rams

Both teams have the same disadvantage playing in London this Sunday. The Patriots are the better team, but the Rams aren't as bad as they used to be. The Patriots are also not as dominant as they used to be. This game is on a neutral field. The better team usually wins on a neutral field. I don't expect any surprises.

New England Patriots 28 St. Louis Rams 13

Washington Redskins vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

A couple of years ago, this game would've truly been a humbling game for Redskins QB Robert Griffin III. However, the Steelers defense are old and slow, and they look very vulnerable now. Not even playing in Pittsburgh will scare Griffin III. Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger will need to air it out and score points on this defense. Griffin III will need to stretch the field too. While he has done it from time to time, their offense is pretty conservative for the most part.

Washington Redskins 27 Pittsburgh Steelers 30

Oakland Raiders vs. Kansas City Chiefs

What more can you say about these two teams? Who actually has an advantage? I'm not really sure. Analysis is pretty simple. I'll just give it to the home team.

Oakland Raiders 17 Kansas City Chiefs 20

Cowboys QB Tony Romo walks off the winner against the
Giants in Week 1.
New York Giants vs. Dallas Cowboys

These two teams kicked off the season, and it didn't go how the defending champions wanted it to go. Now we're in Week 8 of the season, and the Cowboys offense has struggled to score points this season. The defense has certainly improved, but they may be losing their best defensive player in LB Sean Lee. How do the Cowboys compensate for that? It remains to be seen. An interesting note in this game: the Giants have never played the Cowboys in a day game at the new Cowboys Stadium yet. This is the first time.

New York Giants 30 Dallas Cowboys 20

Broncos QB Peyton Manning might want revenge against the
Saints for denying him a second title.
New Orleans Saints vs. Denver Broncos

The last time Saints QB Drew Brees and Broncos QB Peyton Manning played, it was for the Vince Lombardi trophy. Brees came out the victor. The Saints denied Manning an opportunity for a second championship. Will Manning remember that and pounce on the Saints? Maybe. The man who was responsible for putting the game away in that Super Bowl was CB Tracy Porter with his interception return for a touchdown. He's now on Manning's team.

New Orleans Saints 24 Denver Broncos 31

San Francisco 49ers vs. Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals sit at second in the division behind the 49ers, but they are currently in a free-fall. Playing the 49ers does not help. The Cardinals did beat the 49ers in Arizona last season, but the 49ers will most likely remember that. The Cardinals started off at 4-0 and are now 4-3. Expect them to be at .500 early Tuesday morning.

Week 7 Review

Seattle Seahawks 6 San Francisco 49ers 13

QB Alex Smith struggled in this game as well, the second consecutive home game in which he has struggled. They were playing an excellent Seahawks' defense indeed, but 49ers RB Frank Gore was able to get the offense going just enough for the victory. The Seahawks' offense missed several opportunities for big plays, and Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch didn't have the game needed to help the team.

Titans WR Nate Washington catches touchdown
pass for the game-winner.
Tennessee Titans 35 Buffalo Bills 34

This game was a back and forth, high scoring affair. At the end, Titans QB Matt Hasselbeck was able to complete a touchdown pass on fourth down with the game on the line. It will continue to raise the question as to whether it was a good decision to bench Hasselbeck in favor of the much younger QB Jake Locker. Hasselbeck led the Titans to a 9-7 record last season, and the Titans had an outside shot at making the playoffs in the final week of the season.

Dallas Cowboys 19 Carolina Panthers 14

Panthers QB Cam Newton's pouting and crybaby act is getting old. Very old. The Cowboys did just enough to escape Charlotte with a victory. The story of this game was Newton's press conference, where he looked dejected and out of it. Newton does not deserve to be a starting quarterback in this league if he's going to continue to act this way.

Baltimore Ravens 13 Houston Texans 43

Most people will point to the fact that Ravens LB Ray Lewis and CB Lardarius Webb were out for this game. It probably wouldn't have mattered. Ravens QB Joe Flacco is showing why he can't be trusted to lead his team to a Super Bowl. It took analysts and media pundits a long time to give any form of credit to New York Giants QB Eli Manning. Flacco has been given credit already, and quite frankly, he doesn't have much to show for what he's been given credit for.

Cleveland Browns 13 Indianapolis Colts 17

The Browns had an opportunity to get the go-ahead touchdown. Browns QB Brandon Weeden through a nice deep ball to WR Greg Little. The sun got in his eyes and he dropped the pass, much to the dismay of the new owner sitting in the press box. While the Browns are 1-6, they may been pretty competitive in just about every game. Things are probably looking up for the Browns.

Arizona Cardinals 14 Minnesota Vikings 21

The Cardinals started off at 4-0, which included an impressive road victory against the New England Patriots. They have now lost three straight, and with QB John Skelton at the helm, it could get worse. QB Kevin Kolb has been surprisingly decent, not making the mistakes that has cost the Cardinals in the past. Where do the Cardinals go from here? Meanwhile, the Vikings continue to win against opponents they should beat.

Giants WR Victor Cruz races past the defense for the game-winning
score.
Washington Redskins 23 New York Giants 27

Redskins QB Robert Griffin III simply left too much time on the clock for Giants QB Eli Manning. Manning was able to bounce back after two poor interceptions to throw the game-winning 77-yard score to WR Victor Cruz. A week after having perhaps the most dominating performance of any team in any one game against the 49ers last week, the Giants struggled to contain Griffin III and Redskins RB Alfred Morris. However, they got to Griffin III and caused several turnovers in the second half which helped them put the offense in position to win.

Green Bay Packers 30 St. Louis Rams 20

The Packers got the win, but it was very costly. Up 30-13 in the fourth quarter, the Packers lost CB Charles Woodson to what was diagnosed as a broken collarbone. Woodson broke his collarbone in Super Bowl XLV in what appeared to be the same exact way he broke it in St. Louis. He'll miss approximately six weeks, which can be damaging to the Packers defense.

Saints QB Drew Brees celebrates after the victory in
Tampa.
New Orleans Saints 35 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 28

Saints QB Drew Brees had four touchdown passes and over 300 yards passing in the first half alone en route to a close win in Tampa. The Buccaneers had an opportunity to tie the game as well, but a penalty on what would've been the game-winning score, ended the game. The Buccaneers were also involved in another small controversy. They received a penalty on a field-goal attempt for baiting the Saints into a false start with words. Greg Schiano has some tricks up his sleeve.

Jets QB Mark Sanchez fumbles in overtime,
ending the game.
New York Jets 26 New England Patriots 29 OT

The Jets certainly played much better than most people would've thought. Even though the Patriots came away with the victory, they cannot expect to play this way and think they'll win another championship. The Jets had an opportunity to win this game after Patriots CB Devin McCourty fumbled the kickoff. However, their conservative play-calling only got them a go-ahead field goal, leaving enough time for Patriots QB Tom Brady.

Jacksonville Jaguars 23 Oakland Raiders 26 OT

This game was easily the least intriguing matchup of Week 7. However, it was close and did require a comeback from Raiders QB Carson Palmer to get the victory. For the Jaguars, they lost their starting quarterback and starting running back to injury. To a team that's easily one of the worse in the league, this is a severe blow.

Pittsburgh Steelers 24 Cincinnati Bengals 17

The Steelers had an opportunity to get their first road victory last week in Tennessee, but they blew that. They probably preferred to get it against the Bengals, a team they have historically dominated. This game was an important division game, especially after the Ravens lost earlier in the day. The Steelers have put themselves in decent position, while the Bengals continue to falter a season after surprising everyone.

Detroit Lions 7 Chicago Bears 13

Lions QB Matthew Stafford continued his dreadful play for the first three quarters, and Bears QB Jay Cutler was economical in this Monday night snoozer. Lions WR Calvin Johnson continues to struggle as well, mainly due to Stafford's erratic play and inaccuracy. The Lions had three red zone opportunities and blew them all due to turnovers. At 2-4, the Lions are in trouble. At 5-1, the Bears are being looked at as Super Bowl contenders.

Week 7 Preview

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll and 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh
shaking hands during last season's opener.
Seattle Seahawks vs. San Francisco 49ers

Both teams come into Candlestick Park at 4-2, and the Seahawks are probably the biggest surprise of the season. When Pete Carroll turned to QB Russell Wilson ahead of QB Matt Flynn, some people were certain Wilson would go through growing pains. While he has experienced his share of negatives, Wilson has been a rock on offense while the defense has been spectacular. Sounds exactly like the 49ers last season, so this NFC West battle should be interesting. Let's not forget Jim Harbaugh vs. Pete Caroll.

Seattle Seahawks 7 San Francisco 49ers 20

Tennessee Titans vs. Buffalo Bills

This is no sexy matchup, but both teams are coming off of somewhat impressive victories. Both teams would love to continue their momentum. The Bills have a chance to put themselves over .500 again, in an AFC East division where every team is currently sitting at .500. If the Titans can get a road victory in Buffalo after a solid home win against the Pittsburgh Steelers, it could pick up the spirits of the team. It may also create a quarterback controversy.

Tennessee Titans 17 Buffalo Bills 24

Dallas Cowboys vs. Carolina Panthers

After coming off of a heartbreaking road loss, this is a must-win for the Cowboys. The Panthers have been dismal, and the Cowboys need to capitalize on that. The Cowboys have the New York Giants, Atlanta Falcons and Philadelphia Eagles following this game so this is a must-win. The Panthers were trying to create a buzz in the offseason, with OL Ryan Kalil predicting a Super Bowl this season. Kalil, their best offensive lineman, is now out for the season. It only gets worse for the Panthers.

Dallas Cowboys 31 Carolina Panthers 13

The Texans and Ravens battling during last season's AFC
Divisional Round, which the Ravens won.
Baltimore Ravens vs. Houston Texans

Both teams are overrated and the Texans proved that by getting blitzed by the Green Bay Packers at home last week. However, the Texans proved in the AFC Divisional Round last season they can hang with the Ravens or possibly beat them. Flacco will have his hands full with the Texans defense. If you saw what he did against an anemic Kansas City Chiefs defense, Flacco is in trouble.

Baltimore Ravens 17 Houston Texans 30

Cleveland Browns vs. Indianapolis Colts

The Browns finally got their first win of the season, so they have a giant monkey off their back. Going into Indianapolis is not too tall of an order for the Browns, but it is still a tall order. Colts QB Andrew Luck had a rough game at MetLife Stadium. He'll certainly look to bounce back in front of the home fans against the lowly Browns.

Cleveland Browns 14 Indianapolis Colts 27

Arizona Cardinals vs. Minnesota Vikings

Both teams are coming off of deflating losses, but the Cardinals suffered the loss of a home game and the loss of their starting quarterback. Now they have to rely on QB John Skelton, which may not be all that bad considering the players seemed to be in favor of him over QB Kevin Kolb. Skelton has not performed well this season, so a road tilt against the Vikings will be very difficult. RB Adrian Peterson seems to be close to being his old self, and WR Percy Harvin is lighting it up. Can't see how the Cardinals win this one.

Arizona Cardinals 6 Minnesota Vikings 24

Washington Redskins vs. New York Giants

The chatter about Redskins QB Robert Griffin III has already started, with verbal jabs coming from Giants DE Jason Pierre-Paul and DE Osi Umenyiora. However, the thing that will probably affect the game the most are last year's results between the two teams. The Giants went 9-7 last season, with two losses coming to the last-place Redskins. The Giants may be motivated to not let a letdown occur again, and that is enough to trust the Giants in this game.

Washington Redskins 20 New York Giants 35

Green Bay Packers vs. St. Louis Rams

The Rams have been somewhat surprising at 3-3. Going into their road against the Miami Dolphins last week, they were above .500 for the first time in six years. Jeff Fisher obviously is changing the culture around the organization, but they are clearly not ready to compete just yet. The Packers are coming off a resounding road victory against the Texans, so this has the potential to be a letdown game for them. I don't think Mike McCarthy will allow that to happen.

Green Bay Packers 31 St. Louis Rams 10

New Orleans Saints vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Saints finally got their first victory two weeks ago against the San Diego Chargers. However, they struggled and it took a Chargers meltdown to win. We are still unsure of how good or bad the Saints are. They did go on the road against the Panthers and lose badly. The Buccaneers are at home, coming off of an easy home win against the Chiefs. They may be riding high, but this game is a little unpredictable.

New Orleans Saints 21 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 24

Patriots QB Tom Brady and Jets QB Mark Sanchez talk
after a game.
New York Jets vs. New England Patriots

The Patriots have not been able to finish games and the case could be made that they should be 5-1 or 6-0 right now. The Jets going against this "borderline illegal offense" could be in for a long day. The Jets have looked bad in their losses, but somewhat impressive in their wins. This can definitely be one of those games that can get ugly. Rex Ryan is studying hard to come up with schemes to stop the Patriots offense, and we can never count out Ryan. However, can Sanchez and their offense come up with enough points for the win?

New York Jets 10 New England Patriots 24

Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Oakland Raiders

This goes down as the game no one really cares about. However, it still has to be played. The Raiders beat the Steelers at home, so they should have no problem beating the Jaguars. This is still a game for Jaguars QB Blaine Gabbert to show that he can still be an NFL quarterback. If Gabbert struggles against a porous defense like the Raiders, there's very little hope for him going forward.

Jacksonville Jaguars 13 Oakland Raiders 16

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Cincinnati Bengals

Both teams are coming off of bad losses, so both should be motivated to get the victory. The Bengals may be coming back down to earth, as they benefitted from a relatively easy schedule last season. They've already lost a home game to the Dolphins and a game to the Browns, who came in with zero victories. The writing may be on the wall for the Steelers, as they are showing their age on defense. They do not have a road victory yet, but this should be the game where they get their first one.

Pittsburgh Steelers 27 Cincinnati Bengals 13

Detroit Lions vs. Chicago Bears

The Lions are coming off an impressive road victory, but QB Matthew Stafford continues to be erratic with his throws. He was unable to move the ball at all in the first three quarters, missing open targets and making bad decisions. He can get away with that against a Philadelphia Eagles team struggling to put points on the board. He cannot get away with that against a Bears team who have been exceptional offensively and defensively. This game will be easy.

Detroit Lions 6 Chicago Bears 31

Week 6 Review

Pittsburgh Steelers 23 Tennessee Titans 26

This was supposed to be the game where the Steelers would've been able to break their early season road woes. The Steelers, now at 2-3 and 2.5 games behind the AFC North leading Baltimore Ravens, seem to be in a world of trouble. QB Ben Roethlisberger and the offense have not been able to get going like they envisioned. The defense has not been as stellar as it has been in the past either. Have injuries and age caught up to this team?

Oakland Raiders 20 Atlanta Falcons 23

Even though the Falcons are 6-0, it's kind of hard to say they are the NFL's best team when they struggled to beat the Carolina Panthers at home, and now the Raiders. However, the Falcons are finding ways to get the job done, and going into their bye week, they couldn't be more thrilled to be undefeated. Falcons QB Matt Ryan struggled early, throwing three interceptions in the first half. However, a fourth quarter interception by Falcons CB Asante Samuel that was returned for a touchdown put the Falcons in control.

Kansas City Chiefs 10 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 38

Chiefs QB Brady Quinn started this game for injured QB Matt Cassel, and things weren't much better. Buccaneers QB Josh Freeman threw for over 300 yards and three touchdown passes en route to an easy blowout win. Veteran CB Ronde Barber chipped in with a long interception returned for a touchdown in a rather uninteresting Week 6 matchup.

Indianapolis Colts 9 New York Jets 35

Jets QB Mark Sanchez only threw for under 100 yards, and keeping it out of Sanchez's hands is probably the formula for the Jets' success. RB Shonn Greene ran for 161 yards and three touchdowns, and rookie QB Andrew Luck threw two interceptions and only completed half of his passes in a humbling loss. Coming off an emotional home victory against the Green Bay Packers last week, the Jets seemed to be ready for another emotional performance from the Colts. It was either that, or the Colts were emotionally drained after last week.

Cincinnati Bengals 24 Cleveland Browns 34

In what many predicted would be the Browns first victory of the season, the Browns put their best performance together in about a year for the win. The Browns picked off Bengals QB Andy Dalton three times, while Browns QB Brandon Weeden threw two touchdown passes in the win. After RB Trent Richardson left the game with an injury, RB Montario Hardesty stepped in and scored a touchdown. After a surprise playoff appearance last season, the Bengals are falling yet again.

Lions WR Nate Burleson celebrates after scoring a touchdown.
Detroit Lions 26 Philadelphia Eagles 23 OT

In what turned out to be a costly loss for Juan Castillo, the Eagles gave up a ten point lead in the fourth quarter en route to an overtime loss to the Lions. Eagles QB Michael Vick had three turnovers in this game, including two interceptions against a defense that had no interceptions as a team coming into the game. The Eagles got the ball first in overtime, but Vick was sacked twice en route to a deflating three-and-out and boos from the home crowd. Castillo, the Eagles defensive coordinator, was fired this morning and replaced by secondary coach Todd Bowles.

St. Louis Rams 14 Miami Dolphins 17

Rams K Greg Zuerlein attempted a 66-yard field goal to tie the game and send it to overtime. He missed wide left, but was able to get the distance on the kick. Zuerlein is impressing the league each week with his strong leg comparable to that of Raiders K Sebastian Janikowski. On a lesser note, Rams coach Jeff Fisher lost to the team that was vying for his services this offseason.

Ravens celebrate after K Dan Bailey misses game-winning
field goal.
Dallas Cowboys 29 Baltimore Ravens 31

The Cowboys managed to do everything in the game but win. In a disheartening turn of events at the end of the game in which the Cowboys had numerous opportunities to tie or take the lead, the Cowboys fell short. Down 31-23, WR Dez Bryant caught a 4-yard touchdown pass. However, Bryant was not able to catch the two-point conversion as it bounced off of his shoulder pads. The Cowboys were able to recover the ensuing onside kick, and another completion to Bryant put the Cowboys in field goal range. Time mismanagement put the Cowboys further than they wanted to be for the game-winning field goal, and the Ravens escaped with a hefty cost. The Ravens lost LB Ray Lewis and CB Lardarius Webb for the season, and DL Haloti Ngata has a torn MCL he'll attempt to play on.

Buffalo Bills 19 Arizona Cardinals 16 OT

Cardinals K Jay Feely makes the 61-yard field goal, but he clanks on the easier 38-yard attempt that would've won the Cardinals the game. An interception in overtime by QB John Skelton put the Bills in great position to win the game, and they seized the opportunity. The Bills, in a very strange and polarizing season, are now tied with all of the other three teams in the AFC East division with a 3-3 record.

In the photo of the week, Seahawks CB Richard Sherman
talks trash to Patriots QB Tom Brady.
New England Patriots 23 Seattle Seahawks 24

Seahawks CB Richard Sherman had a message for Patriots QB Tom Brady during the game and after. The Patriots blew a 13-point lead and lost in Brady's only appearance in the Pacific Northwest. The game-winning touchdown from QB Russell Wilson was a beauty to WR Sidney Rice. The Seahawks, now at 4-2, are getting ready for their NFC West showdown with the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday, while the Patriots have a division battle of their own against the Jets on Sunday.

Giants S Antrel Rolle celebrates after one of his two interceptions.
New York Giants 26 San Francisco 49ers 3

Both teams were anxiously awaiting this game to prove their supremacy in the NFC. In a rematch of the NFC Championship Game, the Giants rolled over the 49ers, picking off QB Alex Smith three times as the 49ers never got into the red zone. Giants QB Eli Manning had an economical day, and RB Ahmad Bradshaw rushed for over 100 yards and scored a rushing touchdown, something the 49ers defense has not allowed at home in quite some time.

Minnesota Vikings 26 Washington Redskins 38

A week after suffering what appeared to be a brutal concussion, Redskins QB Robert Griffin III was all smiles as he threw for a touchdown and rushed for two more. The Vikings defense hadn't allowed more than 23 points all year, and the Redskins were able to surpass that mark with ease. The Redskins finally snapped their eight-game losing streak at home as they prepare to face the defending champions next week.

Green Bay Packers 42 Houston Texans 24

The Packers were doubted going into this game, but they showed exactly why they should still be considered Super Bowl contenders. The Texans, meanwhile, received a humbling home loss and reminders that they may not be able to compete with the likes of the Packers, 49ers and Giants. This can only help the Texans going forward, as they have a strong defense and a strong running game. The Falcons are the only team now sitting undefeated, maybe because they have not faced a good team yet.

Broncos QB Peyton Manning is relieved after the comeback
victory.
Denver Broncos 35 San Diego Chargers 24

The Chargers went into the locker room leading 24-0, and the Broncos were looking as pathetic as they did last week against the Patriots. However, QB Peyton Manning led the Broncos to an amazing comeback, which the defense contributed to heavily as well. This is a deflating loss for the Chargers, as they will most certainly compete with the Broncos for the AFC West title. Three interceptions from Chargers QB Philip Rivers cost the Chargers the game.

Week 6 Preview

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Tennessee Titans

The Steelers have struggled so far this season, barely beating the Philadelphia Eagles and beating the struggling New York Jets, both at home. They are 0-2 on the road and still seem to be adapting to offensive coordinator Todd Haley. Injuries on the defensive side of the ball have hurt them a bit as well, but they are in for a game they should easily take care of. The Titans have struggled mightily in their run game, and their defense hasn't stopped anyone. This should be the Steelers first road win of the season.

Pittsburgh Steelers 27 Tennessee Titans 10

Oakland Raiders vs. Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons are undefeated at 5-0, and have a home game against the lowly Raiders. This smells like an easy win for the mighty Falcons. The Falcons almost slipped up to the lowly Carolina Panthers, so that should be a teaching tool to help them put the Raiders away early. Simply put, QB Carson Palmer has not been the quarterback the Raiders wanted when they decided to give the Cincinnati Bengals all kinds of draft picks for him in a trade.

Oakland Raiders 7 Atlanta Falcons 31

Dallas Cowboys vs. Baltimore Ravens

The Cowboys offense has looked surprisingly unimpressive, but the Ravens defense has looked the same as well. However, the Ravens defense is still a defense that can create turnovers. S Ed Reed will be back there waiting on opportunities from QB Tony Romo. The Cowboys are entering a tough stretch in their schedule starting with this game. This can determine whether Jerry Jones will clean house after the season.

Dallas Cowboys 17 Baltimore Ravens 24

Cincinnati Bengals vs. Cleveland Browns

The Browns were surprising many people when they jumped out to a 14-0 lead on the road against the defending champion New York Giants. They quickly faded after to no one's surprise. The Bengals surprisingly lost a home game to the Miami Dolphins, and this is a division rivalry within the state of Ohio. This is looking like the Browns best chance to win their first game of the season. I think they'll get it.

Cincinnati Bengals 13 Cleveland Browns 20

St. Louis Rams vs. Miami Dolphins

Some would say the Rams got an impressive victory last Thursday against the undefeated Arizona Cardinals, but others predicted the Rams to get the victory. The Dolphins got a somewhat impressive victory on the road against the Bengals last week, so they should be looking to get to .500 with a home victory against a below average Rams football team.

St. Louis Rams 10 Miami Dolphins 23

New York Jets QB Mark Sanchez.
Indianapolis Colts vs. New York Jets

The Jets are playing in their third consecutive home game and they lost the first two to the mighty San Francisco 49ers and mighty Houston Texans. This is a much more manageable game and the Jets should be looking to seize on their opportunity. The Colts are coming off an emotional win against the Green Bay Packers. Some are expecting a letdown of sorts this Sunday, while others expect the Colts to continue competing hard for Chuck Pagano.

Indianapolis Colts 13 New York Jets 14

Detroit Lions vs. Philadelphia Eagles

An anonymous GM said the Lions were overrated. That didn't sit well with a couple of players. At 1-3 going into Philadelphia, they probably don't have time to be thinking about that GM unless they want to turn it into motivation. The bye week may have helped the Lions, but they'll have to put a good product on the field. Eagles QB Michael Vick continues to turn the ball over but he shouldn't have a problem in this game. The Lions defense has done absolutely nothing to create any turnovers.

Detroit Lions 20 Philadelphia Eagles 24

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Both offenses have been so inept and miserable on offense, this game could turn out to be a snoozer. Buccaneers QB Josh Freeman has not shown the ability to drop back and throw with accuracy beyond 15 yards. Everything in their passing game is short, despite having a big play threat in WR Vincent Jackson. Chiefs QB Matt Cassel has just been awful to the point where his hometown fans booed him after he was injured. It doesn't matter if Cassel or backup QB Brady Quinn plays. Both of them are awful.

Kansas City Chiefs 6 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 17

Buffalo Bills vs. Arizona Cardinals

I wonder if the Bills stayed on the West Coast for the week after their game against the San Francisco 49ers. Maybe they wanted to go back to their families in Buffalo instead, seeing they got demolished 45-3. They have a more manageable matchup against the Cardinals, but it won't be easy either. The Bills have been a puzzle, looking solid in their wins but looking awful in their losses. What will it be this Sunday?

Buffalo Bills 24 Arizona Cardinals 20

New England Patriots vs. Seattle Seahawks

Playing in Seattle is very difficult, but I don't think it matters to an offense like the Patriots. They will most likely go back to the no-huddle offense that worked very well this past Sunday against the Denver Broncos. As long as the Patriots are on the same page offensively, they should be able to score some points. The Seahawks defense isn't easy however. They have two big, excellent corners in CB Brandon Browner and CB Richard Sherman. However, I don't think neither will be too successful covering WR Wes Welker in the slot.

New England Patriots 27 Seattle Seahawks 16

San Francisco 49ers QB Alex Smith.
New York Giants vs. San Francisco 49ers

In a rematch of the NFC Championship Game, this game can still go either way. Clearly, the 49ers have played better up to this point, but as we all know, that doesn't matter with the Giants. We don't quite know what we'll get from the Giants, but they have the tools necessary to beat the 49ers. The 49ers are motivated however, and that might make the difference.

New York Giants 23 San Francisco 49ers 27

Minnesota Vikings vs. Washington Redskins

Let's see if Redskins QB Robert Griffin III will play this Sunday. This game is also interesting because the Vikings are 4-1, including an impressive home win against the 49ers. However, they have yet to win in a tough environment. FedEx Field isn't necessarily a tough environment, but playing against Griffin III and their dynamic offense can be a problem for the Vikings.

Minnesota Vikings 14 Washington Redskins 27

Green Bay Packers vs. Houston Texans

This Sunday night matchup was looked at in the beginning of the season as an excellent matchup between two Super Bowl contenders, but many would've thought the Packers would be better than the Texans at this point. That has not been the case, as the Texans defense has been very impressive. QB Matt Schaub is managing the game well on offense, with a balanced rushing attack. The Packers can go into Reliant Stadium and win this game, but it will be hard.

Green Bay Packers 14 Houston Texans 31

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning.
Denver Broncos vs. San Diego Chargers

This AFC West divisional battle is an intriguing one because both teams are coming off of devastating losses. Both teams also appear to be the cream of the crop in that division, as the Raiders and Chiefs have been abysmal. Going into San Diego and getting a win is certainly possible for Broncos QB Peyton Manning and the team, but it won't come easy. If only Chargers QB Philip Rivers had more weapons to work with and the Chargers defense were better, they would've had a chance at this game and the division at the end of the season. I can't see it though.

Week 5 Recap

Arizona Cardinals 3 St. Louis Rams 17

In a rather uneventful Thursday night game, the Rams were able to come away with the victory behind nine sacks from their defense on Cardinals QB Kevin Kolb. A couple of opportunities for the Cardinals to score a touchdown went by the wayside as the Rams two touchdowns came on deep bombs. As I mentioned in the first sentence, this game was uneventful.

Miami Dolphins 17 Cincinnati Bengals 13

The Dolphins came away with a shocking win in Cincinnati, but there weren't any spectacular performances in this one either. Bengals QB Andy Dalton was picked off twice, with the final interception sealing the win for the Dolphins. The Dolphins go to 2-3 with a home tilt next week against the Rams, which gives them an opportunity to get their record up to .500.

Colts WR Reggie Wayne makes a spectacular one-handed
catch.
Green Bay Packers 27 Indianapolis Colts 30

Is it time to hit the panic button for the Packers yet? The Packers were able to jump out to a 21-3 halftime lead, but only managed one score in the second half as the Colts offense were able to eat away at the Packers suspect defense. The Colts were riding high on emotions in this one, playing their first game without head coach Chuck Pagano, who is battling leukemia. Colts QB Andrew Luck showed America just what kind of quarterback he can be for years to come.

Baltimore Ravens 9 Kansas City Chiefs 6

Before the start of every season, the Ravens are always hyped as Super Bowl contenders. Going into this season, the hype was at its greatest. Ravens QB Joe Flacco was expected to take the next step, but it certainly didn't seem so in Kansas City. Completing under 50% of his passes with no touchdowns and an interception does not seem like a good quarterback at all. Doing this against a Chiefs team who hasn't done much of anything on offense or defense this year is even worse. Flacco is simply overrated.

Giants RB Ahmad Bradshaw scores a touchdown in what
was a monster day.
Cleveland Browns 27 New York Giants 41

The Giants love to make Tom Coughlin's face red because he was certainly miserable in the middle of the first quarter. Down 14-0, the Giants decided to stop toying with the Browns and unleash their offense to the tune of 41 points. After going down 17-7 in the second quarter, the Giants scored 20 unanswered to take a 27-17 halftime lead and not look back. It was the case of the next man up again, as rookie WR Reuben Randle led the Giants with six catches. Star WR Victor Cruz had five catches, with three of them going for touchdowns.

Eagles QB Michael Vick loses one of his two lost fumbles.
Philadelphia Eagles 14 Pittsburgh Steelers 16

It was looking as if the Eagles would've been able to get yet another one-point victory. QB Ben Roethlisberger was not going to lose the battle of Pennsylvania. The Eagles lost a heartbreaker and it appears all fingers will be pointed at Eagles QB Michael Vick. Vick lost two fumbles, the first one being at the one-yard line with an opportunity to score. A mini quarterback controversy arised earlier this season after head coach Andy Reid made comments on Vick as his quarterback. If Vick continues to turn the ball over, will this change actually happen?

Atlanta Falcons 24 Washington Redskins 17

The hype for Redskins rookie QB Robert Griffin III certainly still exists. However, Griffin III has not won a home game for the Redskins yet, and their misery in FedEx field continues. They have lost their last eight on that field, and they lost Griffin III to a concussion as well. The Falcons didn't necessarily look overly impressive, but they were able to make the plays when they needed to. They remain undefeated, while the Redskins will wait to see if Griffin III can suit up next week against the Minnesota Vikings.

Seattle Seahawks 16 Carolina Panthers 12

Seahawks S Earl Thomas was spot on with his comments on Panthers QB Cam Newton. When things do not go well for Newton, he suffers even more. His body language is so poor at times, it has an adverse effect on the team. Seahawks QB Russell Wilson was pretty accurate, but still threw two interceptions and left the Panthers with many opportunities to win this game. It just didn't happen. The Panthers continue to suffer.

Chicago Bears 41 Jacksonville Jaguars 3

It was deja vu all over again for the Bears defense, as CB Charles Tillman and LB Lance Briggs returned interceptions for touchdowns again for the second consecutive week. That has never happened in the NFL. Meanwhile, the Jaguars looked solid in their loss to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 1, and they got a stunning victory against the Indianapolis Colts on the road. Other than that, things have looked very bleak for this franchise. A 38-point loss at home is about as bad as it gets, as Jaguars fans continue to figure out if QB Blaine Gabbert is the future.

Tennessee Titans 7 Minnesota Vikings 30

Last year the Titans were 9-7 and had an outside chance of making the playoffs in the final game of the season. This was all with QB Matt Hasselbeck. QB Jake Locker took over the starting job this season, and it hasn't looked good for him. Locker was injured last week against the Houston Texans, and Hasselbeck took over. Whatever magic Hasselbeck had last season isn't there this year. He was not good in relief of the injured Locker last week, and was not good at all in Minnesota either. Vikings QB Christian Ponder is showing some more good signs, but he was picked off twice. Are the Vikings simply capitalizing on a easy schedule so far?

Patriots QB Tom Brady scores a touchdown on a quarterback
sneak.
Denver Broncos 21 New England Patriots 31

The media in Denver and Broncos fans will probably point this loss to RB Willis McGahee, but the Broncos simply got it going too late as Patriots QB Tom Brady beats Broncos QB Peyton Manning yet again. The game was broken open in the third quarter when the Patriots went up 31-7. However, this game resembled the last time Manning played Brady in New England, as a member of the Indianapolis Colts in 2010. The comeback was certainly possible, as the Broncos were able to recover two fumbles in the fourth quarter. However, McGahee's fumble sealed the deal.

Buffalo Bills 3 San Francisco 49ers 45

I'm not sure which occurrence should be noteworthy, but nonetheless they should both be noted. The 49ers continued their dominance in this game, a week after dominating the New York Jets on the other side of the coast. The Bills continued to be dominated, a week after giving up 45 points in the second half to the New England Patriots at home. The game was manageable at halftime, with the 49ers up 17-3. However, the floodgates opened up in the second half yet again, as the Bills gave up 28 points after intermission. 21 of the 28 points were in the fourth quarter. Last week, the Patriots scored 31 points in the fourth quarter against the Bills.

Saints QB Drew Brees sets the record for most
consecutive games with a passing TD.
San Diego Chargers 24 New Orleans Saints 31

All of the NBC Sunday night viewers were just waiting for the moment when Saints QB Drew Brees would get the touchdown pass to break Johnny Unitas' record for most consecutive games with a touchdown pass. That pass came on a 40-yard pass to WR Devery Henderson. Suspended head coach Sean Payton was in the house for the record-breaking moment, but after that, it was a football game. The Chargers were up 24-14 in the third quarter and in position to add to the Saints' misery. However, Brees led the comeback for the Saints first win of the season.

Houston Texans 23 New York Jets 17

ESPN analyst Trent Dilfer said the Jets exhausted all of the positives of their offense in this game. I would have to agree. The Jets still lost. Texans RB Arian Foster rushed for 152 yards, and the Texans were able to pick off QB Mark Sanchez twice for the close win. The questions at the quarterback position will continue in New York. QB Tim Tebow did some good things in the game, including a nice throw that was dropped by WR Jason Hill. The Jets will have a third consecutive home game next week against the Indianapolis Colts, which is looking like a must-win.

Monday Night Recap

CB Charles Tillman returns an interception from
QB Tony Romo for a touchdown.
If the Dallas Cowboys plan on living up to their supposed Super Bowl hype this season, they know what they can't play like if they want to get there. Exhibit A was last night's home debacle against the Chicago Bears, where Cowboys QB Tony Romo was intercepted five times for the second time in his career. Two of the five interceptions went for touchdowns, as the Cowboys enter a tough stretch at 2-2. In their next five games, the Cowboys play the Baltimore Ravens, Carolina Panthers, the defending champion New York Giants, Atlanta Falcons and the Philadelphia Eagles.

Four out of the next five could be losses for the Cowboys, but they also have the talent to come away with wins. This stretch may define and determine what the Cowboys may be going into the home stretches of the season in late November and December, where they have historically struggled as of late. The last time Romo threw five interceptions was also in a Monday Night football game against the Buffalo Bills at Buffalo. The Cowboys miraculously won that game, but there would be no miracles in Jerry Jones' house last night.

Meanwhile, the Bears weren't too effective on offense in the first half, only getting a field goal and being helped by a interception return for a touchdown by CB Charles Tillman. However, the Bears offense and defense turned it up in the second half, and Bears QB Jay Cutler was able to get the ball to his favorite target WR Brandon Marshall. Marshall had seven catches for 138 yards and an easy touchdown.

The Bears next four games are against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Detroit Lions, Carolina Panthers and Tennessee Titans. The Bears can run off an undefeated streak in these four games, in addition to winning last night's game and last week's game against the St. Louis Rams. The Bears have an opportunity to possibly surprise many and win this division. The Green Bay Packers are still the favorites, and it still very early in the season. However, the Bears have a good defense to compliment their rushing attack and decent passing game.

The Cowboys have a rough division to compete with, but it is very possible they can still win the division. A lot of inconsistency resides in the NFC East, so the team that takes care of business like the Giants did last season towards the end will win this division. Romo has struggled in the month of December, so a good start would've been beneficial. The opportunity for a solid start was there. They went into MetLife Stadium and defeated the defending champion. However, not much has gone right since. This may turn into a disaster if the offense doesn't get up to speed.

Week 4 Sunday Recap

K Matt Bryant makes the game-winning field goal for the
Falcons win.
Carolina Panthers 28 Atlanta Falcons 30

QB Cam Newton has an opportunity to get a first down and he fumbles the football, in which the ensuing recovery resulted in a failed third down conversion. A beautiful punt left the Falcons starting a potential game-winning drive at their own 1-yard line. This game must be over because there's no way the Falcons can get into field goal range backed up that far. S Haruki Nakamura badly misplayed a deep ball earlier in the game that resulted in a touchdown for WR Roddy White. Deja vu would occur as Nakamura misplayed a deep ball again, resulting in a long completion for White en route to a game-winning field goal for K Matt Bryant.

New England Patriots 52 Buffalo Bills 28

So the Bills were up 14-7 at halftime and the game was tied at 21 at the end of the third quarter and still lost big? After winning two straight following a opening game disaster in MetLife Stadium, Bills fans were impressed with what they saw through the first three quarters. Two touchdown passes from QB Tom Brady and a touchdown run each from RB Stevan Ridley and RB Brandon Bolden wrapped up a fourth quarter in which the Patriots outscored the Bills 31-7. This leaves Bills fans feeling low like they did Week 1.

Minnesota Vikings 20 Detroit Lions 13

The Lions and the Green Bay Packers were the top two teams in the NFC North last season. Some expected it to be that way this season as well. Coming into this game, both teams were the bottom two teams in the division, and the Lions definitely could've used a home win in the division going into the bye week. A second consecutive game with awful special teams play leaves the Lions at 1-3, asking themselves a lot of questions going into their bye week.

Tennessee Titans 14 Houston Texans 38

The Texans continue to roll over opponents, winning this one easily and knocking out Titans QB Jake Locker in the process. Texans QB Matt Schaub threw two touchdown passes, while the Texans defense returned two QB Matt Hasselbeck interceptions for touchdowns. I have doubted the Texans coming into the season but they are proving the doubters wrong. Next up is a Monday night matchup against the New York Jets. They can be 5-0 after that.

San Diego Chargers 37 Kansas City Chiefs 20

The Chargers jumped out to a 27-6 halftime lead at Arrowhead Stadium, thanks to five turnovers from the home team. Another turnover in the second half made it six total for the Chiefs, as they failed to capitalize on the momentum they gained after beating the New Orleans Saints in the Superdome last week. The Chargers, embarrassed on their home field last week by the Falcons, came out sharp, ready to create turnovers and score points. The Chargers started 4-1 last season before completely falling off, so it remains to be seen what the Chargers will do going forward. Nice to have a jumpstart on the division though.

San Francisco 49ers 34 New York Jets 0

I think Jets fans are still trying to figure out exactly what happened yesterday at MetLife stadium. I am not sure if this game forces head coach Rex Ryan to switch to QB Tim Tebow, but this was an awful performance on both sides of the ball. The Jets defense weren't all too bad in the first half, as it seemed to be nip and tuck. However, they were getting gashed by RB Frank Gore and RB Kendall Hunter all game, and the Jets offense couldn't stay on the field long enough to help out their defense. With the Texans mighty defense coming to town next week, this could be a disastrous two game home stretch the Jets will ever see.

Seattle Seahawks 13 St. Louis Rams 19

No replacement referees in this one, and I guess that was bad for the Seahawks. Three interceptions for QB Russell Wilson, in addition to a touchdown throw for the Rams on a fake field goal turned out to be the game. It also helps when you have a kicker who makes a 58-yard field goal and a 60-yard field goal in the same game. K Lawrence Tynes of the New York Giants came way short on a 54-yard field goal.

Miami Dolphins 21 Arizona Cardinals 24 Overtime

The Cardinals went into Gillette Stadium and ruined the defending AFC champion New England Patriots' home opener. Then the Cardinals followed that up by handing a thorough beating to the Philadelphia Eagles. So this game should be easy right? Dolphins' QB Ryan Tannehill made sure it didn't come that easy. He threw for over 400 yards and WR Brian Hartline had 12 catches for over 250 yards. However, it was the throw in overtime that cost the Dolphins the win. The Cardinals, at 4-0, have definitely shocked me and a lot more fans and analysts.

Oakland Raiders 6 Denver Broncos 37

After a home loss to the Texans dropped them to 1-2, the Broncos needed a game where they could bounce back and gain momentum. They saw the Raiders on their schedule and immediately thought -- BINGO!! QB Peyton Manning got his groove back, completing 30 of 38 passes for 338 yards and three touchdowns. Raiders QB Carson Palmer continues to show his naysayers why the trade to acquire him was the dumbest move in recent memory.

Cincinnati Bengals 27 Jacksonville Jaguars 10

In a rather uneventful game in which many probably didn't know was on the schedule, the Bengals took care of the Jaguars in a game where WR A.J. Green caught six passes for over 100 yards. A noteworthy occurrence in this game is the two fumbles from RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis, who did not fumble at all in his NFL career coming into this season. He had his first fumble last week, and followed that up with two yesterday. Is this a sign of bad things to come?

WR James Jones scores one of his two touchdowns in the
Packers victory.
New Orleans Saints 27 Green Bay Packers 28

The referees got a standing ovation after entering Lambeau Field. Following the Monday night debacle in Seattle, the Packers and their fans just knew they wouldn't have to worry about the referees. They were wrong. A couple of obvious missed calls, including a fumble from RB Darren Sproles in which he was ruled down by contact, could've cost the Packers the game. In the first half, it was obvious TE Jimmy Graham dropped a first down reception. The Packers challenged and just knew they were going to get it reversed. They were wrong again. Do the referees just dislike the Packers?

K Billy Cundiff saves the game and most likely his job with
his game-winning kick.
Washington Redskins 24 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 22

K Billy Cundiff was on the sidelines just thinking of where he was going to go next after being cut by the Redskins when he got one final chance to redeem himself. Having missed three field goals earlier in the game, the Redskins marched into field goal position rather easily after the Buccaneers came back to take the lead. Cundiff barely made the game-winning field goal, and it appeared that he didn't even look at the flight of the ball after kicking it, instead looking at the ground. Cundiff needs to do much better if he wants to stick around.

New York Giants 17 Philadelphia Eagles 19

I do not know what was worse. Maybe it was WR Ramses Barden's decision to mug CB Nnamdi Asomugha up the sideline on a deep pass. Or maybe it was the decision of the coaching staff or QB Eli Manning to throw down the field when they were in manageable field goal position. The Giants let a good opportunity slip away as K Lawrence Tynes came up short on a 54-yard field goal attempt. The Giants, like they do best, have put themselves in a tough position early in the season at 2-2, when they easily could've been 4-0.
