NFL Week 14 Recap

Inclement weather dominated this weekend of games, and the Colts were able to win the AFC South despite losing. Let's recap Week 14!

Houston Texans 20 Jacksonville Jaguars 27

The Texans were fed up with the losing, so they decided to fire head coach Gary Kubiak after this loss, even though this losing streak probably wasn't his fault. On the other hand, the Jaguars just keep winning games. Like the Buccaneers earlier this season, many people thought the Jaguars could go 0-16. It's good to see they're winning games now.

Minnesota Vikings 26 Baltimore Ravens 29

This game has to go down as the most exciting and wild finish in NFL history. There were five game-winning touchdown scores in the final two minutes of the game, after both teams struggled to score all game. There is simply no excuse for the Vikings to lose this game after taking the lead after the Cordarrelle Patterson with under a minute remaining in the game. To give up a game-winning drive in that short amount of time is simply unacceptable. This is something that can get Leslie Frazier fired at the end of the season.

Indianapolis Colts 28 Cincinnati Bengals 42

If the Patriots would've lost to the Browns, the Bengals would've taken the #2 spot in the AFC. That would've been temporary, because the Patriots probably would've ran the table and snagged the #2 seed anyway at the end. Both teams should avoid playing the #5 seed in the Wild Card Round. Sure, it'll be a home game, but I don't think the Bengals or Colts can compete with the Chiefs or Broncos. Important win for the Bengals!

Atlanta Falcons 21 Green Bay Packers 22

Matt Flynn kept the Packers in the playoff race, so if the Packers can get Aaron Rodgers playing next week against the Cowboys, the Lions and Bears should be afraid again. The Lions and Bears have failed to take advantage of Rodgers' injury, even though the Bears have injuries themselves. The Falcons aren't playing for anything, but they had a comfortable they let slip away. That's disappointing.

Cleveland Browns 26 New England Patriots 27

A questionable pass interference call handed the Patriots the game, and fans who aren't fans of the Patriots don't like to see them getting any favorable calls. In the Patriots' last loss against the Panthers, many people believed a pass interference should've been called on Luke Kuechly, but no one was sorry for the Patriots. The Browns could use a victory like that, so for it to be ripped from them, it's disappointing for long, suffering Browns fans.

Oakland Raiders 27 New York Jets 37

Geno Smith didn't have an excellent game, but he played much better than he has in recent games. Smith accounted for a couple of touchdowns, and the Jets scored a season-high 37 points in the win. Matt McGloin continued to impress for the Raiders as well, but the results just haven't been there. If the Raiders go forward with McGloin as their guy in future seasons, they need to evaluate everything surrounding him.

Detroit Lions 20 Philadelphia Eagles 34

When the heavy snowfall was in progress, the Lions looked like the better team. Nick Foles threw his first interception of the season, and the Lions took a 14-0 lead at one point. Then the snowfall lightened up, and the Eagles seized the moment. They scored 28 points in the fourth quarter and LeSean McCoy had over 200 yards rushing as the usually reliable Lions' defensive line were slipping and sliding all over the place. It's yet another disappointing loss for the Lions.

Miami Dolphins 34 Pittsburgh Steelers 28

The way the Steelers lost this one is ironic heartbreak. The Steelers could've pulled off the miracle, but Antonio Brown couldn't keep his feet inbound as he was running down the sideline. It's ironic because coach Mike Tomlin could've helped keep him inbound if he were up to performing tricks on the sideline again. This loss crushes the Steelers' ability to make the postseason. At 5-8, they definitely need to win out and pray.

Buffalo Bills 6 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 27

The Bills are starting to look like one of the worst teams in football now. Since E.J. Manuel returned from injury, he hasn't been the same and the Bills haven't been the same. The Buccaneers, on the other hand, continue to thrive with Mike Glennon as their quarterback. It has been such a long season for the Buccaneers that some people may have forgotten the Josh Freeman saga that was happening in the early part of the season. That seems like an eternity ago.

Kansas City Chiefs 45 Washington Redskins 10

You just have to feel bad for Redskins' fans. They have a diva quarterback, a diva head coach, and ownership that has talked a good one and failed to deliver on a yearly basis. In all likelihood, Mike Shanahan is fired at the end of the season. It is too dysfunctional for him to stick around beyond this season. If Robert Griffin III is truly their franchise quarterback, as he should, then the Redskins have no other choice but to part ways with Shanahan.

Tennessee Titans 28 Denver Broncos 51

Peyton Manning's statement to reporters after the game about his performance historically in the cold was epic. I'm pretty sure Manning factored that in when he decided to choose Denver over Arizona and San Francisco. The defense for the Broncos should be a concern, especially heading into the postseason. While Manning was blamed by many for last year's loss to the Ravens, it was Rahim Moore's foolishness that cost them the game.

St. Louis Rams 10 Arizona Cardinals 30

Tyrann Matheiu's torn knee ligaments is the biggest story to come from this game. The Cardinals won this easily, but let's see how long it'll take for Matheiu to recover. It'll be a long recovery.

New York Giants 14 San Diego Chargers 37

The Chargers kept their playoff hopes alive with this victory, and the Giants had an opportunity to do the same but they came out lifeless. Their loss officially eliminated them from playoff competition, so the Giants will have another offseason missing out on playoff action and wondering what could've been. The Chargers have had disappointing moments themselves, so they'll be feeling the same way if they don't make the playoffs.

Seattle Seahawks 17 San Francisco 49ers 19

Richard Sherman blamed the referees for this loss, and there aren't many Sherman fans out there. Therefore, he sounds like a crybaby to many. However, I looked forward to seeing the Seahawks get an important road victory. I'm not sure they have done so yet. They may not need to this season if they get home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.

Carolina Panthers 13 New Orleans Saints 31

I expected the Saints to run the Panthers out of the Superdome, but the real test comes when these two teams see each other in Bank of America Stadium in two weeks. If the Saints can get a victory there, I'd be thoroughly impressed with them.

Dallas Cowboys 28 Chicago Bears 45

Everyone, including I, picked the Cowboys to win this game. Many people picked the Cowboys because they foolishly believed they're the better team. I picked the Cowboys because the Bears are suffering from a lot of injuries, and their inability to stop the run has been a problem. When will we learn the Cowboys simply aren't as good as we make them out to be?
